Why oh WHY do all the cats I have ever been around while reading tarot feel the need to contribute their energies to the reading (usually by flopping down on top of the spread)? They seem to come from all hiding places to do just this! Anyone else have this happen to them?
If it is a game of go fish with a regular deck or any other game, they all seem disinterested.

Cant help with this topic.
I dont let cats in the living area of the house, except my sons room is allowed and I do my tarot in the privacy of my own room. :)

LOL.Yes,It happens to me also.
If,,your cat,,takes off with one of your cards in his/her mouth,,pay attention to that card.LOL
If they plop down, and one of thier paws is on a card, give special thought to that card.
If they plop down near you,and the end of thier tail is on a card, pay special attention to that card.
If they do the reading for you, send your cat to me,so I can be rich,,er,,I mean so I can take good care of him/her.
Seriously,my cats do wierd thingss while I pray,,they go around me and come to me when they hear me speaking. They only drink water I have in a chalice on my altar, even though I have a bowl near thier food,,they jump up and drink water off the altar,so I keep it filled every day.
I love my cats, they are my gifts from the Goddess,Tabitha is my full-moon-born,sabbat-birthing,new moon birthing,dark-moon birthing magical familiar.
But she is moody, very moody, and doesnt like to cuddle with anyone.
But thats okay,I get a lot of cuddling from her two male kittens I have, they are full grown now.

my cat theo (short for chaos theory, go figure...) is a major lovebug, so usually any time i'm sitting still for a minute he wants attention. but he does seem more fascinated than normal when i'm using my cards. he'll sit and watch me shuffle and spread them, and then he'll flop on them. it's probably just because i'm paying more attention to the cards than him....

Right after I posted this darling Abbycat knocked a deck off the bookshelf and all over the floor. I DID get them all back, couldn't find one of them for awhile, then found it... eight of cups.
I also came home after class today to find all the covers stripped off of my bed.
She ROLLS on readings.

Bear in mind that cats read with their bums, she was just trying to help!
Put a piece of paper down, a cat will sit on it...

Half in, half out. Some believe that cats exist in that realm "in between".
Mine love when I do readings or other workings. Probably the energy. They mostly learned to lay beside the readings and not on top of them. They let me know if something is amiss or if it's time to wrap things up. My older cat and the one before her (who has sorrowfully passed from this world) used to guard the house while I did certain workings, like watchmen in an old castle. Pretty interesting stuff.
Then again, my older cat likes to lay on top of my drawings and any book I'm trying to read... and the younger one took up a trait the older used to have at her age... the wicked "bat at the pen" game while I'm trying to write.

One of my cats (the big fluffy fat one) likes to try to sit on my tarot spreads. Then again, he'll sit on pretty much anything I'm trying to do. Especially if it's getting near his dinner time. :)

I think cats are just funny, quirky animals! Although, maybe they can see something most people can't; i know my cat likes to chase and pounce on what appears to be nothing at all, and i've heard other cats do that too.

My youngest does that... but then I sometimes wonder if sometimes the flecking pattern on the kitchen floor makes her think it's actually a bug or something. Who knows what resides in the minds of cats.

Mulder likes to watch me use card-- Tarot or normal. He gets a kick out of the shuffling too. Might just be a cat thing.
He does it with my books too, see:

Abby just shreds text books. She ruined an $80 paperback (that was the USED price!!!), and shows no mercy. Cards she just rolls on, or knocks over, or flops on the reading.
