Would anyone like to trade recipes for making your own dog or cat food? I've decided that despite the fact that Science Diet says they do have have any problems and my old gal is healthy, I am going to start making her food and treats.

Today I made doggie biscuits:

whole wheat flour
olive oil
peanut butter
water

I made the batter the consistency of cookie dough then pressed it out on a cookie sheet and baked it. It is best to cut the cookies before cooling them.

Scruffy loves them.

Well, dogs evolved hanging out with people eating our scraps. They are omnivorous, we've made them so, and i've found they do just great on it.

I always keep pretty basic dogs, that are quite like the sort of dogs people have always had (medium to larg size, medium coat, high energy breeds)despite what others might say, I think broth, meat, bones, inards, egg, bits of cook vegetable, rice, bread, and cheese seem to keep them in tip top shape. The key like feeding a human is a moderate level of fat and a moderate level of excersise.

usually our dogs get a basic small ration of kibble (about 1 cup a day for a 50lb dog) and a second larger bowl of mixed cereals,(cooked rice, bits of bread, tortillas) meat scraps, egg, broth, fats and vegetables (about 3 cups)

Dog food factories are horrid places i've learned.. they chop up tumours, feathers, ground bone... uck! that's not food... the even sweep crap.. litterlly crap, off the slaughter room floors and that's the 'meat by products' in the dogfood bags.

So i don't think twice feeding ours an elderly end of corned beef, cabbage and a side of ravioli.

I've never had any problems with a dog's health or obesity. Always my animals have shiny coats, are full of energy and trim. all are vet bills are dog stupidity induced, not ill health (porcipines, twigging, getting kicked by a horse.. etc...)
