View Full Version : A Place to find the basics of Druidry Glamour?

Hello and Blessed Be,
I've been looking for information on the art of glamour and it has been going pretty slow. Does anyone know the basics like in Ancient Druidism and not like that movie the Craft, and has the time to send me some of the basics or a site where I can find it or even to like a book?

I'm moving this thread to the Druid Forum, where perhaps the wise Twig or the gentle Fluid Druid (& kind readers of that forum) may be better equipped to help you find that which you seek.

Steve Blamires' book "Glamoury" is a decent place to start. Really though, there's only so much reading you can do. Immerse yourself in the old tales as much as you can, and learn the art of Otherworld journeying. Introduce yourself to the Kindreds and make a habit of leaving offerings to them.

Oh and FYI: at all costs, stay far, far away from anything written by Douglas Monroe ("The 21 Lessons of Merlin.")

I had no idea glamoury was based in Druidry. Been doing it myself for awhile and I don't know a lick about being a Druid :)

First of all "Glamory" is just another word for Magic, specifically that which provides illusions.
Some of the best examples of this concept is in the Mabinogian, when 2 of the Gods/Heros make soes, and then use glamory to "improve" their appearance.
Of course there is also the glamory used by King Uther.
Unfortantly the legands rarely give the details of how these were performed.
In some cases it appears to involve some type of hypnotism,in others illusionist techniques simuler to those used by modern illusionist.
Your best bet is to study the legands, as many differant versions as you can lay your hands on, and look for explanations within your own experance and beliefs.
Follow the scientific method.
Study, hypothise, test....
