Quick question -
When doing a ritual to invoke help from deity, is it inappropriate to call upon multiple goddesses for their aid? As of now I am torn between calling upon Brigid or Sarasvati for help with a major issue in my life right now. I have read about both of them and they are both appropriate deities to call upon for this issue. The trouble is, I am having trouble choosing. Do I have to? Should I?
Any advice would be great and, as always, thanks everyone! :floating:

hmmmm... personally i would not call upon different goddesses from indifferent pantheons... although seperatly those two are very powerful :).

I don't think there would be a problem as they both have compassionate and gentle demeanors. However, I would keep their evocations separate - don't call them together at the same time. Example: "I call on you, Brighid and Sarasvati........etc." As long as you show each the deserved respect, I don't think it will matter.

I agree with Nitefalle. I think one Ritual/Workng would be acceptable (since They are Goddesses Who would likely get along) but with completely separate invocations, intentions, and offerings. Is your issue something that you could make into 2 aspects? Then you could ask the help of One for, say, your emotions and the Other for, say, your actions (just as an example).
I feel that saying (in effect) "You Two work together to help me" is presumptuous.
Good-Wishing to your Work.

If you feel, as the others here suggest, that each goddess is separate and connected to distinctly different pantheons (as opposed to being aspects of the whole). You might have a conflict. But I tend to disagree. I don't think the gods work to harm each other, or you! Clearly both of these goddess speak to you, your heart yearns to hear from them and to feel their touch. Honor each in the way that is unique to your understanding of them. But do not dilute your petitions by making two rituals.

when I ask more then deity, (whether or not They are from the same pantheon) I keep the offerings seperate, and I keep the invocations seperate. Do what is in your heart

I'm not an advocate in mixing pantheons in ritual. I tend to stick to the Greek pantheon, but have been known to occasionally put out some feelers elsewhere in the past, and I participate in my grove's rituals to deities of other pantheons (and the closest wecome to mixing pantheons is the occasio0nal cross-Celtic thing, though we even generally keep the continental Celts separate from the Island Celts.)
I don't think that you need to choose between the two, but I know that if I were asking the assistance of two different deities from two different pantheons, I'd be doing two separate rituals. Particularly if you're not used to working with them.

Not only should you not mix pantheons, IMO. You should NOT call on a God or Goddess for help that you have not worked with before...studied IN DEPTH...or have a relationship with. Again this is MY opinion.
I would consider it very rude to be asked by a complete stranger for help in a major issue... if you wouldn't do it in real life... why do it in your magical life?

I think that working with two goddesses from separate pantheons is just fine. Of course, as many have said, separate evocations and offerings are in order. The two goddesses in question are from very different cultures and have very different personalities. :) But, by all means, call on whoever you think is most likely to help you! That's what deities are there for...!
