I plan to go deep into the forest, make girlands from flowers, and maybe do a simple ritual. Then I'll sit and picnic. I just hope it won't rain:eek:

We plan to really celebrate strongly this year. I'm jumping the fire for the first time this year. This month (May) we start trying for our own little bun in the oven. I'm incorporating the ovulation chart I've been keeping into the ritual. Probably too much info, but there you have it.

Oh too bad that Beltaine wasn't today! I had such a lovely day. I went to this nearby nature center and went on a lovely hike. It was so great to see the beauty of nature. Hopefully, I'll do something special for tomorrow.

LOL...did the candlestick thing :) I did a small ritual in my apartment. My hubby needed to work on his buisness today, and then go do some autobody stuff..so I took advantage of the alone time this afternoon to do my ritual. Unfortunately, the woods back here are populated by children, most of the time, so I couldn't do mine in the woods. And my neighbors are too nosy, so didn't do it in the yard. I did it in my apartment instead. I went out for a walk with my husband this morning though, bright and early, and collected some dew..or frost...(whichever it was this morn), and put some of it on my face (it's supposed to keep you looking young and lovely:)
Part of my ritual, involved ribbon magick, incorportating flowers. I took a ribbon, and tied ten flowers into it, as each flower was tied into the ribbon, I said a prayer, or made a wish, for myself, and for others needing them. Then, I buried the ribbon in my garden using some of the water on my altar to water it. Entirely symbolic, as I don't think those flowers will drop seeds and make anything spring up:)

That sounds beautiful, Danu!
I'm hoping to take a walk when I get home in about an hour. It's still sunny and lovely out!

Thanks Niamh. Bring a sweater though. It's a pretty day, but a mite chilly :)

What a day for this holiday! I know we need the rain so desperately here in the great northeast, however, it was as if the clouds parted and gave us a glorious day filled with sun and comfy temps! (A little chilly yes, but I'm not one for warmer weather! hehehe)
Since I know that I will not have the opportunity tonite, I waited until after midnite lastnite to jump a candle--can't do the fire thing in my apt. However, since I use my cauldron as a candle holder (allergic to all incense), it worked wonderfully! It's also the first time I've ever done it even though I've celebrated for years. I've always been afraid of my own clumsiness and had visions of setting the place ablaze! LOL
I did my own little ritual and really felt a shift in the energy around here. I'm hoping that with this holiday comes a new turning point in my life.
May you all be blessed with the goodness of the day!
Now, for those who can't have any kind of fire where you are, I give to you--the virtual Beltaine fire!

Witchy Chick. I have a solution for you, for next year. Get a floating candle, and put it in a bowl of water. If you knock it over, the water will extinguish the candle before it makes a mark. And..water is far easier to clean :)

Danustouch I never even thought of that--great tip! Since there are so many different kinds and shapes nowadays, they could even have some symbolic meaning as well.
Thanks! ;)

Hehe.. I had a really nice Beltaine. This was the 1st hliday I really *did* something for, and I had fun. I made some of my fav food (potato skins!!) and then went for a lovely walk and discovered my boring little township actually has a beautiful little nature trail leading through the woods with little bridges over the muckish areas hehe.. they look like the perfect place for a future ritual. Another thing that amased me is that because the ground is so wet there are these *beautiful* white flowers that grow my the millions back there! Look almost like those white flowers in churches on easter (gardeinias? lilies?) So I picked a few and got a piece of dead birch wood and but them in a nice little glass vase on my alter. Then I had been subtly introducing my family to it.. I think my dad suspects what I am, he keeps dropping hints, like he told me it was may day.. so I told him and my mom and bro that this holiday was based on the ancient celtic fire celebrations and we were even going to have a fire in the backyard but unfortunaltly my walk tired the already sleep deprived me out so I fell asleep. Later that night when I woke up though I did a little candle ritual and jumped over the one I had represent the goddess. So that was fun. One really cool thing is that I always have candles.. I made some for a craft show several years ago and I still have a lot of them left so I never have to buy any really! :) Well there was my Beltaine! Yay! And incidentally I now have 100 posts!!! took me long enough but oh well hehe.. Just call me silent george ;) (dad had friend named george that barely ever talked unless it was important hehe..) See you all..

I think their lilies, we have them down here too.
I couldn't do much so I just went for a nice long bike ride with a friend of mine down a nice bike path.

It sounds like most everyone had a very happy and blessed day. :) Me, I did nothing. Last year, I did a self dedication ritual, and had hopes that this time I would be ready for a self initiation. But my path seems to be leading me all over the place so I am not feeling ready for that yet. All in due time. *shrug* I was bummed because this was the first holiday in the past year that I didn't mark in some way. But on to Midsummer.......
