Today I attended a wake, for my late grandmother. While I was there I picked up one of her prayer cards (I seem to collect them, if that makes any sense.) Anyways, I just wanted to write down the prayer for all to see. It really touched me.


God saw you getting tired and the cure was not to be, so He put his arms around you and whispered "Come to Me". With tearfull eyes we watched you suffer, and saw you fade away, although we loved you dearly we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, your working hands to rest, God gave us precious memories that will keep our dear one ever in our Hearts, for Mom was the best.

Lovely card. The last 3 funerals I went to (all in the past year, sigh) weren't like that - the only thing personal to each was a paper my mom wrote for the minister to read.

Sorry for giving you all the Jack Handy jones..... As for my grandmother, she lived a long life, and although it wasn't expected... it was not a shock.
