View Full Version : Buffy Needs to lighten UP!

Okay...i love buffy the vampire slayer.
But..isn't enough morbidity, enough morbidity? Okay, yeah..we all know she kills vampires. That's why we watch the show. But so far in the show, angel died, was brought back to life, then went away. Buffy's Mother died, Buffy Died, then came back, Giles has gone away, cordelia left a while ago...can it lighten up yet? Apparently NOT...since the spoilers for next weeks episode say that it will end in tragedy...
According to other spoilers I've read, one of the main charachters is going to die. I know who it is, but won't spoil it for others. I just don't know how much more of this I can take! I LOVE the charachters in that show, and get really attatched to them. And they're all yanked away in one way or another.
How many of you have watched THIS weeks episode? If you did, you know what I mean. Everyone seems to be going their separate ways, and it looks like in the coming weeks, it is going to become even MORE so.
What is happening to our show? Will this be the last season? Will Buffy Just pack up and leave sunnydale, with Dawn, and start all over, someplace else?

**grins** We jumped the gun and began yakking about the ep over on the Cloud & Tree thread.
I actually like Buffy better filled with angst.

Just watched tonight's ep, didn't feel that it was that morbid. Sad maybe, especially what was said about Spike, and with Xander, *sigh* but not really morbid I think. And Tara and Willow!
Ok won't spoil anything in case ppl haven't seen it yet!

YAY I know:) Go Tara and Willow:D:D:D
But Danustouch I know what you mean. I mean one moment things seem to be all pink fluffie bunnies, and the next thing you know BUFFY PULLS OUT A BAZOOKA. It's like:( Although tonights Ep. Wasn't THAT bad(As in morbid). But I personally feel that the show is getting so much better. Because the Ep. After the musical, at least in my opinion, weren't HALF as good as they could have been. Which would make sense because at the EXACT same time, Angel was getting spectacular! We have to give poor Josh Whedon a break sooner or later ya know?
Well ONE thing is for sure, if they bring back that, Buffy is in a loony bin and imagining this, I am going to be so mad. That Ep. Made poor Misty So confuzzled! hehehe. But yeah, I predict that either 1.) The three crack heads(What I respectfully call them) End up casting some weird spell that causes all the energy in Sunnydale to go Kerplowie. Or that they find something in that little treasure they were looking for that changes things. Because did anyone else notice the white hazy look it had? It was like they were all in a dream of something. 2.) Someone makes a wish, and Anya's Friend grants it and everything is all whacked out and THAT IS WHY someone could die IN THAT UNIVERSE. Just like Cordy did remember? 3.) Anya and Xander reconcile and everything seems to be going well. AND THEN Buffy goes to Spike to talk to him and something all weird happens, like the earth shakes and then there is this bright flash of light and they all wake up someplace and everything is wrong and going wrong.
LOL, You can tell I have MUCHO time to think about this. hehehe, what do you all think will happen?

This weeks Ep wasn't too morbid....but very sad. I've seen the previews and read some spoilers for eps in the coming weeks...i think we ARE headed for buffy morbidity....:(

All I've been seeing are re-runs.
I think the show has jumped the shark.

I agree with the sad part for this weeks episode... My mother and I actually got into quite a discussion on it because our ideas about it differed so much... But outside of the VERY end with Tara and Willow :) I was totally depressed after!
And that's probably my biggest complaint... The show has always had a lot of death and sadness sewn in with it, but it used to have humor too... Even if it wasn't outright in their actions, their comments threw you for a humor loop... Now it's just totally 150% serious. It got so depressing to me I almost stopped watching about a month ago, but the fact that I've been watching from the beginning has kept me from being able to do so... But if someone dies (again), that might be my final straw...

*nods* Morbid and getting seriously boring to watch.
I've heard some rumors about how the story line is going. And it's only going to get worse folks. I think I know who's going to die as well. [PM me Danus and we'll see if we've read the same thing :D]
The sucky thing is...by all accounts this is not the last season, the cast is signed on for one more year, and then after that, who knows? *shrugs* But I'm not sure I'll watch it for another year if it's going to continue to be so damn depressing.
*laughs* I watch TV to forget about the trouble of the world for a while...it doesn't help when the stuff I'm watching gets all depressing as well. Who wants to go through that kind of crap?

They need another musical epsiode!

no, no they don't.
And I repeat, people who watch Buffy for the happy joy of it are nuts. Like dying a few times, losing your mom, losing your watcher, *and* having to work in a fast food joint while your sister gets caught shoplifting is supposed to be all fun and lifted. I mean, let's be serious, you realize your life is nothing but death and killing and see how perky you are.
Maybe Buffy just grew up.. hmm...?

*grins* If growing up means your life turns out like that.....
.......I refuse to do it!

True but I suppose most of us don't grow up as chosen ones at a hellmouth destined to kill evil for the rest of our life either, hm?

If anyone is interested, here's a link to a recent interview with Joss Whedon about where the show is going. I've already emailed it to a couple of you :)

WOW..miss a couple of ep's of ANGEL, and you've missed ALOT.
Ok..last episode I saw, before this weeks, (which I also saw), was the one where wesley takes the baby, and that vengeful person takes him into the alternate reality..whatever.
I haven't seen anything since, until this weeks episode. What happened to CONOR? is he all grown up? or dead?????
