Hello all..

OK, so a fun little thread to get things back up and rolling... question for you all: what are your favourite songs/musical pieces and who are your favourite Eastern artists?

I'll have to say my top four major choices and my absolute fav tracks by them must be:

Krishna Das
-- Om Namah Shivaya (a personal all time fav!)
-- Kalabinashini Kali
-- Rock in a heart Space

Sheila Chandra
-- Bhajan
-- Sacred Stones
-- Prema Shanti Dharma Satya (I have some good memories of this song)

Ravi Shankar
-- Shanti Mantra (reprise)
-- Svara Mantra
-- Prabhujee

Azam Ali
-- Inama Nushif

Theres a whole list of others... and I must have at least a hundred by unknown artists, some traditional and some really obscure one hit wonder groups... but all really tasteful :) sooo, who are you all listening to these days??

Namaste

Hiroshima.

Eastern flavor, a jazz group whose founders include traditional Japanese instruments...the koto player has been doing jazz for many years on the traditional stringed instrument.

New album soundbites as of 2007:

I really like this Hindu chant, "Siyava Namaha". That's it, really (well other than Japanese and Korean pop :p).

By Eastern you mean India or the Far East?

I assume both as the name of this forum (Paths: Eastern Paths, Hinduism, Taoism, and Buddhism) can be linked to India and Asia.

And by musicians do you mean musicians in general or more folk, tradtional and spiritual stuff?

I assume any of those categories would apply, perhaps with more spiritual emphasis as it's in the Paths area, but any I'm sure would be okay.
