Hi wild child, glad to see you on line, I trust you are well. I was on nursing duty last night and my back went. I think it is disc problem with moving a patient in a very awkward position as he was not on a hospital bed. The area is 'lumbar' 3-4th disc. Any ideas or remedies that I could apply as a poutlice and take orally. I would appreciate your wisdom or if anyone else has an oppinion of a tried and trusted intervention, I would be most grateful. Cheers x

Hi Wendy! Oooo! That sound so painful! The first thing that comes to my mind is to put ice on the area. Try alternating the ice pack and a hot pack. The ice will bring the swelling down & the heat will bring the blood there. Ibuprofen is usually good for the pain. But I would recomend seeing a doc about this. If it is a slipped disc, you may need a physiotherapist to help put it back in place. Take care & get lots of rest too! :)

Thanks for the advice. You sound like a nurse with that advice. But many thanks. Is there anything from a herbal point of view that I could take to promote healing?

Hi! I quite agree with you. It is so good to know that with all our knowlege combined, we could save the world!!!! I am so glad that wild child was able to comment on 'my bad back'! I look forward to anyone having any herbal remedies, because even though I am a nurse, I would much prefer to use a herbal remedy. I have now got to the stage whereby, I cannot swallow any more ibuprofen, it is knocking me sick! I look forward to any advice while I hit the books also. Thanks
