Odyssean Wicca

Odyssean Wicca was created in 1979 in Canada. Its founders were Richard and Tamarra James. The name of the tradition was inspired by Homer’s Odyssey and is intended to emphasize a belief in life as a “spiritual journey.” This tradition has a less approach to ritual than many traditional wiccans and an emphasis on affiliating with one pantheon. The training system is known to be rigorous. Dedication is a ceremony for those individuals who wish to confirm themselves to the path. Neophyting, the pre-degree, marks the candidate’s commitment to a study of the tradition. It is awarded one or two years after studying with a teacher. It takes three to five years to get to First Degree Initiation. It indicates competency in the demands of public priesthood. Second Degree Initiation is given to those who have been running a coven or student group successfully for at least a year and trained a student through the first degree level. The Third Degree is rarely awarded. They only give those to people who have made a major contribution.

Blue Star Wicca

In Philadelphia in 1975 by Franque D “the Wizard,” established the Coven of the Blue Star, which soon became the Blue Star tradition. It remains a predominantly initiatory coven- based tradition in the model of the Gardnerian or Alexandrian traditions, but solitary practitioners exist. They do community service as a way to celebrate the gods and protect the interests of the pagan community. The theology allows enough flexibility to allow polytheists, pantheists, and monotheists to participate, and rituals can involve prayer or invocation to Wiccan deities. Blue Star has a five-part rank system. Dedication is the first rite of passage and indicates a commitment. People who go through this are called “Dedicants.” Neophyte is the next step which indicates a willingness to take on more responsibility and they are referred to as “Neophyte.” First Degree Initiation is the ritual through which someone enters the clergy. They are known as a priest, priestess, or “initiate.” Second Degree recognizes further training and commitment and is usually time to take a leadership role in the coven. Third Degree is given to those people who are judged by their teachers and able to create a new coven of their own.

1) Right now I live in a dorm, so there are a lot of things that I can’t have including candles and incenses, which sucks because I always burn them at home. I don’t have any specific tools right now, but hopefully soon!
2) I am still trying to get BOS together. I don’t have much information in it yet, but I am adding all the information from this class into it.
3) The correspondences listed works for me. I can’t think of anything to add.
