Ascendant

Okay, I am very new to Astrology. I have a question that I think is very basic but I'm not sure.

Can anyone explain to me what the significance is of your ascendant? My boss told me that he was a ______ (sign) with a __________ ascendant. I didn't know what that meant or what mine was. I had my chart done on one of the free sites mentioned in a different thread and it told me "ascendant in Leo." It tells me that Leo was ascending on the horizon when I was born. It tells me what that means specifically but I was wondering what that means generically. I was wondering how your ascendant affects you as opposed to your sign. Does that make sense?

the Ascendant (also known as the rising sign)

In astrology, the ascendant is the sign on the horzon at the moment of a person's birth. knowing the time of birth can help an astrologer create a more detailed chart.

there are 12 houses in your chart and your rising sign is in the first house with the other signs in order after that.

the rising sign tells alot about who you are and your outward aproach to life.

This is the part I was looking for. Thanks Xander. I was beginning to fear that the question was so off that no one could answer :blushake: :lol:

So how does that differ from what your sign tells about you? Would you say your sign tells more about the internal you and the ascendant tells more about who you are outwardly?:huh:

Interesting. I found about half of it to be uncannily right and maybe half that didn't really sound right. I don't like travelling, I don't meet strangers easily, but I'm frank and honest to a fault, and very impatient. lol you cant go exactly word for word,

things like environment and how you grew up and
also life experiences will have an effect on your character

Well, the Libra ascendant is a pretty good description of me, except I must point out that I'm 5'2" and blonde. . .

The Sag ascendant suits my sister, except, like me, she's short and slim. . .

well according to the ephemeris,

for both 30 degrees north and 40 degrees north
both of those charts say Libra is your ascendent

on january 13th 1986 the moon was in pisces
so your moon sign is pisces! :) and your moon tells alot about you too, mabey this is why you feel the Pisces influence
