Plenty of sarcasm to go around! Did you see the one about changing the name of New York? :D

Oh come on now. I can't really say it surprised me. This IS 2002 after all! Instead, how about...........

The Dual Monaliths! {For the politically correct}
Those couple of Pointy Rock Thingies!
Those whacky hobbits get deeper in caca!

It things like that, that make me seriously question our claim to being an "Enlightened Race". :sunny:

Peace,
Twig
:elf:

ps-Thanks Radocs! That gave me a good laugh. :D :D :D

Um, okay. This is a joke right? But it's a really really bad one. If you keep reading most of them actually say "false entry voided." It's so depressing that we live in a world where stupidity is so rampant and where people act out of ignorance rather than take a moment to get informed . . . :(

That being said, the obviously sarcastic ones are REALLY funny. I love the twins one. :D

However, Peter Jackson has decided to tastelessly name the sequel "The Two Towers".

8O Isn't the book actually called "The Two Towers"???? LMAO

Thomas Veil: I hope someone will punish Tolkien for this tasteless act. :-(

I hope these people are just being sarcastic. I can't imagine anyone being this stupid for real! 8O

cathy clinton: i pray every day that mr jackson will see the light and pull the plug on this project. Mr Tolkien if that is his indead his real name does not seem to be a very christian person to be so cynically cashing in on this tragedy.

Thats. So. Wrong.

Are people really this stupid?! Good lord!

While I think most of the posts were sarcastic ...I work in customer service and I really wonder sometimes if some of these people need help getting dressed ....Or should not leave the house without supervision...:eyebrow:  I better leave it at that otherwise I'll go into my full rant...Some people should not be allowed to own a computer, telephone or drive ect..

*laughs* Oy. I'm not even going to waste my time reading all that. There really should be a law against stupid people breeding. *shakes head*

Yeah, there should. . . but you can never tell who the stupid ones are until they go and do something to show it. And by then, it's typically too late.

The "Baby Jesus cries" one was rather funny. . . :p it reminded me of JSM.

"Never underestimate the destructive power of large groups of Stupid people."

That is all I have to say!

It sounds like a gag to me.

Ha ha how funny.

Two lines of text. . . twenty lines of sig. Would you consider shortening that? :) I know, that's slightly off-topic. . .

Anyway. . . it's accidental, I think; but given our places in the above-average subset of humanity, intellectually, I wonder how many people we consider "stupid" are just normal, average people? And how often people consider us "stupid" for some of the things we do. . ?

I couldn't read the signatures. I just couldn't bring myself to do it.

Do these people even realize that these books were written, some 30 odd years BEFORE the Towers were even a thought in an architects mind.

And that crack "Mr. Toilken if that's his real name....not very Christian"

The man was devoutly Christian his whole life. I wonder if this person who started the petition even READ the friggin books....

Sorry, LOTR are my fave books of all time, get a little uppity about it.....

There all better now. :D

. . . And some people consider risking one's own life to save a stranger's life "stupid," but that doesn't necessarily make it so.

This one HAS to be fake.. if not... oh my god, I'm scared of the world..

"I agree, the director Mr. Tolkien should immediately change the name for the respect of the people lost in the empire state building crash, the families of mr Trump will be hurt when they see this movie,, making it would be wrong!"

WTF is that???

And honestly.. I think some of those people are serious. I mean really.. don't they understand that the book is called The Two Towers.. and that Tolkein wrote it MANY years ago?? For crying out loud.. this just makes me mad.

LOL 8O :crylaugh: :rotfl: Here are some of the best ones..

"TOLKIEN WAS A PROFIT, HE PREDICTED WTC BOMBING 47 YEARS BEFORE THE FACT, AND THE THIRD MOVIE IS RETURN OF THE KING. JESUS IS COMING BACK YOU HAD BETTER RECOGNIZE

I think they should rename New York too, because every time I hear "New York" it makes me think of that day and it makes me cry. That and the words "world," "trade," and "center" should be removed from our language as well.

they have no sensitivity, i wont even let my two twin kids stand next to each other out of respect for 9/11

I, too, was galled, shocked and disoriented upon learning of the cynically crass title of Mr. Jackson's new film. I would also like to start a petition to rename Steven Spielberg's "Minority Report" because of its blatant insult to people of color. Also, the upcoming film "About A Boy" is a clear endorsement of pedophilia. I am also deeple troubled at the subtitle of the new "Star Wars" installement, "Attack of the Clones." This scandalous title is a none-too-subtle implication that scientifically duplicated humans or other animals are violent and hostile in nature -- clearly an affront to copied citizens everywhere. We shall make no progress until Hollywood stems its insensitivity to those factions of society it chooses not to understand. As an avid filmgoer, I shall shed many tears until these senseless titles cease.

Oh thank you so much for this. Those shameless moneymongers care for nothing but themselves. Baby Jesus cries every day because of them. Every single day. Could you please start a petition to stop those fascist police from using 911 as their phone number too? That is also something that bothers me.

I can't believe the insensitivity of some people in this petition. The least New Line can do is postpone the movie for a while so that the country had time to grieve. Have they no shame!?

Won't somebody think of the children?

Whoever this Tolkein guy is, (8O) he's an insensitive a**hole if he's making a movie with a title like that. I'll bet he's not even American!! What gives him the right!!!! "

Many other sarcastic ones one there.. lol.. some people in this country.. and you can tell some of them were actually serious!!! :::shakes head::: this is why antibotics are weakening the human gene pool .. What do we want? natural selection!! When do we want it? NOW!

OMFG, look a few pages ahead... 95% of the entries read "False Entry Voided"... people who signed to say how stupid the petition was... just like me.

I have never read anything more stupid in my life. Didn't Tolkien name that book along time ago? And is he even still alive? I'm not sure, but if he is, how do they get off saying we should punish him for his tasteless act? He wrote a fantasy book!! The Director, Jackson?, and Tolkien didn't crash a plane into the WTC towers....terrorists did. Maybe they should be signing a petition to ask Bush to get off his ass and catch Osama already. Geez.

I think the three most appropriate letters to use in response to this are:

W.T.F.?!?!?!?!

:T :woah: :bug: :crylaugh: :crylaugh: :ugh: :ahhhh:  :rotfl:  :eyebrow:

These are my favorites either because of the ignorance involved or the sarcasm involved:

I agree, the director Mr. Tolkien should immediately change the name for the respect of the people lost in the empire state building crash, the families of mr Trump will be hurt when they see this movie,, making it would be wrong!

What the hell?? Is it just me, or did this guy just take offense to the relevance to the empire state building crash?? And correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't really think Tolkien would have an easy time directing LOTR from beyond the grave...

I myself am a big Elvis fan, and if they name the third film after the book title "Return of the King" i will start my own petition....

LMAO! :crylaugh: I love that guy :p

Heh... I just couldn't resist the urge to post a reply myself. Only mine was a lot less serious.

Prof. Tolkien passed on I believe it was in 1973, his son, Christopher, is still alive however.

ROTFLMAO!!! :rotfl:

I'm sure J. R. R. Tolkien is probably rolling over in his grave over this.

I wonder if they realize that: 1, the second volume of "The Lord of the Rings" is in fact titled "The Two Towers;" and 2, that it was originally copyrighted in 1954.

Naillosotarrain

It was also copyrighted again by J. R. R. Tolkien in 1965; and the copyright was renewed in 1982 by Christopher R. Tolkien, Michael H. R. Tolkien, John F. R. Tolkien and Priscilla M. A. R. Tolkien.
