I've missed the last few episodes, but after Danus post last week, I knew I had to watch it! When I saw who was back together, well . . . I knew. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who taped it. Myst I thought she was going to kill Spike too! Great Goddess I can not wait for next week!!
I'm happy and crying at the same time! :wah2:

Yep..I STILL haven't figured out why LOGICALLY she didn't. Looks like she might have to, somewhere soon though based on the last comments he made to his pal, there.
I knew this was going to happen, from reading spoilers, but it sure as hell didn't make it easier to watch! It's so freaking sad.
And I was just saying this to Myst in PM..but..Could that episode have been ANY more dramatic? I mean, they pretty much covered EVERY single way in which to make a show dramatic. Not one "Dramatic" element was left out! Ok..except maybe childbirth. lol.
I like how they DID that final scene, though. If I hadn't known what was coming, I would have really been surprised by exactly how it happened.
It was so poignant in a way, because of all the things you've seen buffy and buffy charachters go through...all the wierd stuff that happens..for THAT to occur...it's just such a study in mortality.

I had no Idea what was coming, having been working too hard to watch lately...so tonite just about dropped me....I didn't even know that W&T had gotten back together...and then the scene with Spike....oh my...
and Willow...yikes... the last scene...they do some marvie special affects....
I hope they don't take "spike" off the show, but I am afraid his goose is cooked...This is gonna drive me bonkers figuring stuff out all week....argggggggg. They wouldn't take Spike and the scooby gang would they.....**gasps in horror***

I think I knew who was going to die, but I was really hoping I was wrong.
I also simply don't get this thing about vampires not having souls. How can they not have souls when they have emotions? Spike seems like such a complex character, it just seems to simplistic to say that he is evil and turn him into a sudden bad guy. Oh well.
Myst
May 8th, 2002, 02:14 AM
I don't know about that. It's not so 'sudden', he was a bad guy in the first place, till after that chip was implanted.
And as he said in the show, it stops him from being a monster, and things can change if you make them. *shrugs*

I am not a happy camper :wah: I knew what was gonna happen because of spoilers, but I still hate it. My daughter is very upset, lol. This was definitely one of the more grittier episodes. I hate what Spike tried to do. I really wish they hadn't done that, but maybe they needed something to make Buffy really see what he is. I like Spike and Buffy together, actually. It'll be interested to see Willow coming back with a vengeance next week.

Well, I sorta knew this was coming, since Amber Benson's contract hadn't been renewed for next season. James Marsters' has, so we'll get more of Spike, one way or another.
(Spoilage coming if you haven't seen it)
I liked how they did it though - loved that Warren didn't use anything supernatural - he was just another stupid idiot with a gun he didn't even know how to aim properly. Just underlines that he's violent and rotten.
Spike is soooo gonna get that chip taken out of his head.
Mithrea
May 8th, 2002, 10:33 AM
Umm, maybe it's just me *I know nothing about guns* but it seems to me that his aim was fine. He hit Buffy--which was more than I would be able to do!
Danustouch
May 8th, 2002, 02:04 PM
Azure..yeah..that's what I mean. I think the fact that they used a Gun, instead of some interdimensional void, or poisonous monster, or mental torture, or whatever, they used a typical weopen found in this world...A Gun. It made it all the more human, eh? All the more realistic. I think Joss did a really good job in deciding how this recent tragedy would occur.
Myst...yep...Spike was pretty evil even before the chip..however, I can understand (whoever it was), someone saying that spike has shown he DID have a soul, before. The mere fact of his love for druscilla. Remember how "Crushed" he was when she left? If he had emotion...in that instance, how could he not have a soul?
I was thinking the same thing last night myself.
I guess one could make an argument that Spikes emotions for Druscilla were based more on "Ownership" or "Territoriality" which would definitely be less..."emotional" and "soulful" than true love..but then...this last episode,...what he did to Buffy....that could be construed as an act of ownership or territoriality as averse to true love as well.
Hmmm..
I think perhaps that Spike didn't really love either Dru OR Buffy, merely felt territorial about them, possessive..etc. Like..maybe he saw Buffy as the ultimate "Prize"...
I can't believe i'm psycho analyzing Spike, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Nope..not an addict..nope..definitely not.
The only wrench in the wheel of THIS coarse of thought, is why does he seem to have such incredible genuine affection for Dawn?
Myst
May 8th, 2002, 04:26 PM
And who's to say emotions make a soul...
Djiril
May 8th, 2002, 04:39 PM
I'm not saying they do, but can anything besides a soul make emotions?
Azure
May 8th, 2002, 05:27 PM
i suspect that very question will be a major issue come next season. . .

Well remember back in Season 2.. when Dru and Spike reassembled The Judge... and he wanted to nuke them cause he said they reaked of humanity? They're the only 2 vampires (Angel not included) that truly love one another.. they allow themselves to feel emotions (love, jealousy, etc)... it's supposed to be pretty damn rare. I dunno.. that whole thing got me thinking... why Buffy was so upset about Spike loving her... cause if Spike can love her with all his heart *without* a soul... why couldn't Angel? I mean, I know why Angel couldn't.. but does she? I think that would mess with my head a bit.
And oh my friggin god, that buffy/spike scene... tore my heart out. Now, obviously.. I'm a HUGE fan of Spike and James Marsters... but even I wanted to kill him there for a minute.
And I've actually heard that Amber Bensons contract is renewed... it's Anya's contract that isn't.. but I could be wrong.
And maybe it's me.. but why on earth would they *finally* add Amber to the opening credits, if she's gonna be gone? *cries* I love Tara.. they can't take her away!!! And ooooh... Willow's eyes at the end... man, thats awesome.

I suppose it depends on who you ask.
More a question for T&P I think tho so I won't go off topic :)
And it is my understanding that Angel did love buffy but that they could never have a happy normal life together and/or he couldn't have complete happiness.

Well yeah.. sorry.. I worded that wrong... Angel loved Buffy... Angelus dispised her *because* Angel loved her. It's all a big soap opera. :) hehe

I think Spike will have his chip removed...and somehow or other find out later in the season he is more human than he knew... again. Plus, he cares about Dawn, and I think she triggers his compassion....

Yes it was an interesting article. It reminded me of something though. I watch Buffy on UPN and they don't show the previews. What did they show? I got a hint in that article but not the meat.

Wow I'm really in the right place, all you Buffy fans, (yippee)
I was falling off my seat when I watched Buffy Tuesday night. I had no idea what was going to happen and it was really a shock.
However,
Obviously Buffy isn't dead (been there, done that) but is Tara really dead? or did she just look like it?
The blood splattering on Willow was an excellent effect for the shock factor, it worked for me. The best was the very end, all I can say is that is one pissed off witch now! :)
The attempted rape scene was a bit much, but then again, I never bought the whole Spike being a nice guy thing. So it was no surprise.
Well, looks like its back to the original "gang" again. This season has done nothing but tick me off, (except this last episode)
so hopefully it will get back on track. It's my favorite show, but maybe it should have ended last season. its a wait and see deal.

Actually I think it was the 'your shirt..?' right after they had that discussion about clothes that did it, with the blood spattering.
