View Full Version : Road under Stonehenge

I recently read in a magazine that a road is planned under Stonehenge.
This area is as you know a sacred place for druids and pagans and is the main area associated with the summer solstice in Britain.
The person who wrote to the magazine is asking all pagans if they would do a spell to stop this from happening as it would disturb the ley lines and release negative energy into the area.
Does anyone have any ideas what we could do to prevent this, or has anyone else heard of this planned road.
If this is true then we cannot allow this to happen.
Thoughts and ideas please.

Thanks for finding that out. I had hoped that it was just a nasty rumour, obviously not.
I am going to write to all the addresses mentioned and my own MP to see what can be done.
This can not be allowed to happen.
They will be destroying the worlds heritage.
As a pagan and a Brit I am disgusted by the thought of what they want to do to such a sacred site.
Can you imagine the Pope putting up with this shit.
THIS MUST BE STOPPED BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE
PLEEEEEEEEEEEEASE HELP.

That's odd....when I was there just two years ago, they were talking about blocking that road off completely and rerouting it to loop far away from Stonehenge to protect the site from the damage of auto pollution.
Apparently they've changed their minds. *scratches head in confusion* I think I need to look into this more.

these people don't care that this site is special, for whatever reasons. Living in the US I see this all the time with people wanting to build houses on national battlefields.
If there is enough people that complain/protest in a peaceful manner they might stop it. Public interest in the matter is the only thing that might save it. If I lived in Britain I would be planning demonstrations.

Dear Sirs,
It has come to my attention that you plan to implement a roadway and tunnel under stonehenge in Glastonbury.
Congratulations on the most insensitive, short-sighted, semi-destruction of one of the worlds most well known historical sites and one of the treasures your country is most known for on this side of the pond.
I had plans on visiting your country with the express idea of the henge as my destiation. Those plans are now out the window as I see no reason to visit such a disrespect to my ancestors and heritage. And know that there are thousands who share this feeling.
I thank my Gods that I have an exact replica of the henge that I can go to in Washington State, USA.

Am I the only one who thinks this part is strange? It seems to me it's wiser to go the legal and civil disobedient route first (?) All pagans don't do "spells." That being said, I think it's terrible and really hope it doesn't happen.

Thanks Twig
nice to know people on your side of the pond care so deeply too
I plead that all who read this visit the site
http://www.savestonehenge.org.uk
and send similar letters to as many as possible and please tell all your friends.
I have been ranting all day to all I meet, and as I thought, pagan or not they all outraged.

I'm not suggesting that we all do spells, that was the article in the mag.
What I am suggesting is that we all do our damn best to stop this,if this is allowed to happen then what is next. Nothing will be safe.

Been thinking folks.
Any thoughts on a mass meditation on June 21
If as many pagans as poss send their thoughts to the powers that be,well, who knows.
They used mass med in WW2 you know.
I live in hope.:D

The UK can't be that stupid can they?
A Dark Moon meditation might work better, to banish the negative impact, just an idea....

it comes down to money. If you want to stop it, you are going to
have to really get people to respond! We refuse to waste our
tourism dollars on your country since it is so careless of its history.
(something like that)
not sure how parliament works? how are you represented in
England. If you life there, you need to express your displeasure
in some way as to affect the politics behind it.
It is truly a sad thing. I hope I am wrong, but I feel it will happen.
Please unite to make it not so!

Well, unfortunately there's nothing anyone can really do to stop this. However, if Britain has a Historical Society, let them know about it. If anyone can do anything, they could, if they exist.

I can't believe anyone could be so short-sighted as to build a road under a monument! I wonder if history means anything to those people...

Here's another place to let 'em know what idiots they're being.
Fortunately, I've been there so I'll always remember what it was.

I'm surprised at the strong reaction you're having to this.
Look, they're going UNDER it, not flattening it. They're not destroying anything. It's not a plot to have it fall in.

it is a holy site to some, as well as historically important. You cant
make a highway without severely disturbing the enviroment. Done
that type of work and work like it. Also will produce pollution. Exhaust, and oil runoff when it rains.....:(

They may be going under it but they will be digging up longbarrows and burial mounds that are on the henge itself, not to mention the disturbing of ley lines.
The whole site is of historic and sacred importance and it will never be the same again if they are allowed to build this road.

I agree. I wouldn't be surprised. :( I think Flar's right. The biggest threat is probably money.
It really is sad. How could anyone be so... well, insensitive as to build a road under something so sacred to so many people. It's even special to people who don't find it sacred, and apparently it's one of those great mystery thingies...
They've lasted so long well off without the stupid road there... why do they need one now? The environment is not going to be near the same with road on it, especially since there's going to be a whole bunch of auto pollution. Oh yeah, that's what the builders wanted when they built it...

People don't tend to worry about that--think about the Chunnel. Tunnels really are fairly safe; barring any geological activity, the engineering concepts aren't all that complicated for a run-of-the-mill tunnel.

I wonder what impact a tunnel has on ley lines? Do we know what sacred relics and or stones are under this site of mystery? Can they Xray the ground for this? I don't know but I think if they were planning to tunnel under a Christian history building that held graves and relics, they would put a fast stop to it. We just aren't in power. *sigh* :(

Have you actually looked at the diagrams for the tunnel they plan to dig? It won't go underneath Stonehenge at all; rather, it's a good 200-300m away from the outer circle, as I recall.
Incidentally, I don't think a tunnel would have any effect on the areas Ley Lines that the normal road doesn't already. And in my experience, the volume of people traveling over a given stretch of land--whether road or dirt trail--can enhance the energy of any existing Ley Line or even create a new Ley Line.

PB, one of the nicest parts of this place, ask a question, and you will get an answer.. or dozen. Thanx for the info on Ley lines. I hadn't known, infact, I just started learning about them in the past few years, incidental to other things. I somehow had gotten the impression IT was going right underneath. Thanx...

I can't belive they're being so stupid about this. . .
personally, I don't think people can screw up the lay lines, just by building a highway. . . but they sure as hall can screw up the general energies, the natural balence, the environment. . . >.< wtf are they thinking?

The tunnel ISN'T going under Stonehenge!
The tunnel is going AROUND stonehenge!!
National Heritage strongly support this because IT'S A GOOD THING -
it will get rid of pollution and restore the natural landscape to its former glory,
and IT WON'T HARM ANYTHING because there will be thorough excavations where they dig
which is (lets say it together now) AROUND stonehenge.
edit: I also dont see how it will impact ley lines anymore than the currently existing road!
