Do you see her as mother? nurturer? friend? confident woman? scholar? warrior? destroyer?

I see the Goddess as the Earth or a force. I also see Her as being a collective female consciousness: She is a holistic view of womanhood: She encompasses everything that a woman can be.

I'm not really certain how I would view the Goddess, though sometimes, the entity generally makes itself known to me as a Force. I can relate it to an entropic sea. Churning and so cold that it is occasionally warm, a contrary sort of womb that fills space with mist and shores with foam. I suppose I relate it to space or sea because of the Nothing's infinate capacity to hold creation.

My joyful and abundant Goddess:
A dear friend, an older sister who holds my hand when I'm scared, a beautiful girl who's in love with my God (just like He is in love with Her), kind and loving Mother of Devotion, Forest Princess and the Queen of the entire world.

hmmm, well she is sometimes just a girl, but more often like a mother, she is the earth and in all the elements, she is sometimes a warrior and a destroyer, but also a creator and a giver of gifts and blessings, she is a friend but like no other friend, she is still a goddess :) Sometimes she is an old wise woman, and at other times she doesn't take any form at all...

Sometimes just a breath. Sometimes a large shadow.
Others she works through my cat. I have to watch for the signs. I am sure I miss many.

A Mother...prepared to praise me or spank me within an inch of my life, depending on the situation.

Nowadays? **Soft smile** Kinda as an aunt or an older sister. . . older and wiser; looks out for me, but not to the extent that a mother would; gives me the leeway to get myself into (and out of) trouble, but is always there to help if I need it and if I ask for it. She's always within reach, but not always over my shoulder, if that makes any sense?

I see her as ALL ... as girl , woman, mother, crone, sister, aunt , ALL she encompasses different images to suit the situation and sometimes she has no form

she is there to guide and protect , she wont stop me getting into trouble but she'll guide me back out of it and if i need her shes there

I see her mostly as just a woman who loves all and at the same time is able to dish out punishment for all.

Since I put a name to her, Airmed, I decided to put a physical body to her. I don't think she minds. ;) So sometimes she is a sister.. an aunt.. but not so much a grandmother. I've never really had any older figures in my life that impacted me, so I guess that went toward my vision of the Goddess, too.

Sometimes she is an animal.. all-wise golden hind.. sometimes she is a plant, a stone, a cloud, a star.. a wolf. She can be whatever she thinks I need at the time. :) It's up to her.

Goddess definitely does not mind if you know that She has a form. You and I have forms, too. Why should She be any less than us?

I worship Her in the form of a young girl with eyes like lotus-petals, hair black as the raven, complexion so golden that it defeats the Sun. Her face is like the moon - indeed, it makes us forget the beauty of the full moon. When She smiles, Her face expands like a lotus flower.

God is also beautiful and attractive so much so that He can attract everyone in all the three worlds, but Goddess is so attractive that She can even attract Him.

Well, my views are definitiely polytheistic, so I have close relationships with several goddesses, and I don't see them as just faces of "all one goddess." I call on those deities I have close relationships with based on what my needs are. Brid, to me, for example, is more like a professor and mentor for me, than my Mom.

Ganga

I would call myself "partially polytheistic": I see some goddesses as separate entities (Sarasvati, Bhumi, etc.) and some as "faces of One Goddess" (Radha, Lakshmi, etc.) It can sound a bit complicated, I know. In Hindu scriptures it is mentioned that there are 330 million gods and 330 million godesses. AND there are unlimited incarnations of God and unlimited incarnations of Goddess in addition to those 660 million....

I really love this thread :-)

Makes perfect sense to me :)

I thought I needed to say that, because the majority around here seem to see all as faces of one - which is just fine, but not what I believe.

I, too, agree about this. I don't really believe all of the goddesses as many faces of one goddess, either. Just like I don't believe all the gods are many faces of one god.

However.. I *do* believe, somewhat, that the gods and goddesses are one. I know it doesn't make much sense.. but here.. I believe that Zeus = Jupiter = Odin, etc. That's what I mean by one. Like Hera = Juno = Brigid, etc, or whatnot. :D So that's what I mean by one, yet not one.

I also agree with Azure. Airmed is more like my teacher, my mentor, my sensei or whatnot. Demeter feels more like a mother to me. But I'm still closer to the god than the goddess. :)

The way I see Her changes all the time, it seems. I see Her in the rolling curves of the countryside round my home; and see Her when I look up at the sky at night and see the stars and the moon overhead.

My version (not the right word) of the Goddess would have to be song. Different song different aspect of the Goddess.

for me she is a really good friend...she is there to smack me upside the head when I am making mistakes, she is there to laugh with me in good times, she is there to hold and comfort me when I am down, and she talks to me all the time...I talk with her everyday...I love her

I would have to say...all of the above...and more.

Flar's Freyja

My perception of Her has changed over time also. I had difficulty identifying with a goddess, and then Freyja found me through a course of events involving people I met and participation in a powerful ritual. Although I consider Her my patron, my mother, my friend, my sister, my guide, my benefactor......I also use the other goddesses as appropriate. I find now that they are coming to me. I had a powerful encounter with Hekate at Imbolc that was unexpected and that I didn't understand. Things are happening in my life right now that indicate that She is there to support and guide me. Brighid is also with me right now and blessing me abundantly. I'm finding that when I'm open and aware, She finds me.

About a year ago, I recognized that god energy is also essential and I've been exploring that. I'm currently developing a relationship with Odhinn and find that he is a great comfort.

I know that the goddess is around me and guides me to clever decisions. Once when I was having troubles, I dreamt of the goddess. This sign showed me that the goddess is with me, even in my dreams.

Well, my first post here, so here goes..

The Lady comes to me in many forms. Depending on what I need at the time or the kind of message, She comes to me as how I envision a particular deity. For example, if she chooses to come to me as Artemis, she is dressed in a brown tunic carrying a bow and arrow with her hounds next to her feet. If something "fun" or "humorous" is about to happen, She comes to me as Eris (Discordia). Of course, on a full moon she calls to me. This past full moon I danced under her and it was so awesome. I felt so connected and loved and protected. She comes in other forms too, but too many to describe.

I can see Her in a variety of ways. Maiden, Mother, Warrioress, and Crone. She shares unconditional love and is there for me whatever the problem is. Doesn't mean She won't give me my just desserts if I do something wrong though!

Welcome Jade Woulf! It kind of sounds like you believe in one goddess, and this one goddess comes to you in the forms of other goddesses. I can see how you have developed such a deep connection with this goddess; she can be everything to you. You made an interesting point that she calls on you when it is a full moon.

Do you feel a deeper connection with the gods and goddesses during different phases of the moon?

Ganga

Welcome, Jade! I saw your photos, too! Are you partially Finnish? :-)

Regarding Mnemosyne's question: yes, I think there is a difference between the depth of my connection to Goddess at different times of the moon. I suppose if I was very enlightened, I'd feel that connection always and strongly. Or perhaps it's not the depth of the connection that varies, but quality (the feel, the mood). At new moon I feel differently than at full moon. Lately, I've enjoyed the more meditative phase of the waxing moon which I didn't know how to appreciate earlier. I had a talk about this some time back with a male friend. He is a Pagan, but doesn't celebrate harvest, etc. because he feels it does not mean so much to him in modern society. Grains are available year through in the stores. He also doesn't follow the lunar calendar because he has "a good solar calendar - it just doesn't mean anything to me". To me, following these Natural timings is one of the main things why I consider myself a Pagan. And I've noticed that my menstrual cycle corresponds to the lunar cycle, not to the solar month (of course, it's quite obvious, isn't it?) I tried to explain that to my friend, but I don't know if he placed much importance on that. Well, he's still very young.

But now I've strayed off the topic. Sorry 'bout that!

correction: I meant the meditative phase of the waning moon. I seem to always mix those two terms.

Ganga, I totally agree with you. I think that I am more meditative during the waning moon. At that particular time, there seems to be more going on in my life. In order to cope with everything, I think that I turn more to spirtuality. For that reason, I have to say that I feel a deeper connection to the gods and goddesses during specific times of the lunar calendar.

I have found I see her as all of the things you've mentioned. One of her best qualities is...that even if you accidently drift away..she will always be there to take you back. So accepting and warm. When I meditate or pray, i always get this overwhelming feeling of warmth and comfort, to the point I could cry. Its so home-y. Its makes me feel as thought I really have a strait connection.

well i'm polytheistic to the bone, but i mostly feel i've a connection to Aphrodite...(long story) although sometimes i think She's playing with me (ditto)...

to me, She has many different faces:
the Lover - all hearts n softness n smiles, all the good things about love,
the Scorned - to say "hell hath no fury like" is an understatement
the Mother/Friend - embodiment of platonic love in all its forms
the Jezebel - She knows wat She wants and She'll get it. end of story.

however, in a weird way, although I see Her as a Goddess, a wholly separate entity, in a way She's like a reflection of a part of me. (i don't think i'm making sense now)

and then, other times, i see the Goddesses in a different way - a pleasant day, one of my craft projects...i notice the beauty that shines thru them and know it comes from one of Them ;) or when Someone's definitely looking out for me, I'll feel it and say a little thank u :)
