Sorry but I have noticed a little anti-Christian talk going on. However, we should remember that this site is not just Pagan - that we welcome all to this porch, Pagan and Christian alike. The lemonade runs rich here and we share with all. Let's just keep in mind that there is no one path better than the next.
Once again, Religion is in the Head, Spirituallity is of the Heart.
Blessing to all,
Thoma

I haven't seen it but I've been trying to catch up. This is a good general reminder but you might want to bring this up in the thread itself.

I haven't seen it either, but I've also been away for awhile with a bad migraine. Though I'm not prone to it, I'll keep it in mind.
Remindedly,

I'll admit it. I'm guilty. Sorry, I'm a fighter by nature, and I have learned to fight against Christianity from very personal experience. I'll try to be a good kitty.

RnR, I agree with you ... Sort of ...
Many of us have suffered greatly at the hands and spirit of many of the less than healthy elements of Christianity. As I have often said before, it's not Christianity, it's the Christians and it's not ALL Christians, just a few loud ones. And our goal here is to share the spirit as you mentioned in your first post.
What is important, for me, is to temper what we say and make sure that we don't allow negativity to enter into what we say.
Bless You Brother.

Not all christians are a problem, just most of them....
but also, it is the patriarchal religions that make
victims of people, and most lack an awareness to know
this. I find christians to be untrustworthy, but we should
hate the precepts of christianity, not the people trapped
in its grip.

I have had very negative dealings with Christians both as a Catholic child who always had pagan philosophies, and as an adult. Women and men alike. It has been my experience that the deeper committed the person is to the religion, the more dishonest and shady they are in their lives. Part of that is the belief that they will be forgiven anything and will not suffer any consequence if they confess their sins, I believe. In Catholic school, I've seen a nun try to have a sexual relationship with one of my friends, a priest verbally abuse students who did not share his philosophies, and many other atrocities. As an adult, I have been called names by Christians for my beliefs, which I do not hide, seen my sister's father in law who is a deacon in the Catholic church, cheat on his wife, abuse his children, try to give his children away to become a priest after his wife died, deal with loan sharks, steal from his own children, etc...and this is not counting the suffering and losses our ancestors have suffered at the hands of Christians. They still teach them that we are devil-worshippers, and that we eat children. I find it very difficult no to Christian bash. I really don't think we are headed toward the same destination from different paths. I think that there are two paths and two destinations.

When christians tell me that I will burn in hell for
eternity, my response is: Oh good, then I'll see you
there. Does not their "bible" say they are not to judge,
lest they be judged. It seems that most christians have
this memory lapse.
Only my cat understands me. :D

I have to admit I too have some very strong views on Christians, as this religion more than any other cult has persecuted and almost succeeded in obliterating the old religions and any other that stood in it's path. Just look at some of the more fundamentalist sects, and you will find something truly frightening. The adherence to a rigid dogma, total obedience at the risk of expulsion and eternal damnation, to name just a few. Pagans every where have good reason to be very wary of this cult so I have to agree with tigerwalla, and support his views and the right to voice them.

Thanks Red, but it's her views LOL!!!
It is very hard to have charitable feelings towards Christians. For past injustices, and present ones, too. This is one of the only places I can rage against the machine, and not be looked at like I have 7 heads and am spitting pea soup. Thanks for understanding. ;)

It is difficult to be charitable and kind especially when you come from a fundie upbringing as I did. I try not to bash even though it is difficult to hold my tongue sometimes. I will be ever more mindful to treat them as I would want them to treat me.
I have been bashed recently by a fundamental christian, but I know how this person thinks since I attended the same church a few years back and listed to the same preacher teach his flock narrow mindedness and intolerance. My mother is a fundamental christian but is not prone to bashing people she doesn't understand.
It is only fair that we treat the christians that visit the boards with the same respect they show us. If I have said anything in any of my posts that has offended anyone, especially if you are christian, I am sorry!

I have to agree totally, let us treat Christian with EXACTLY the same respect they show us. I can't think of a better form of 'outing' them, Hee,hee. ;)
Or as the ancient Chinese curse says, "May you live in interesting times" :D

You know there are many forms of religious persecution. Let's not be naive and think that Christians were the only people to ever persecute. Muslims and Jews did it. Right now, certain forms of hinduism are doing it. Even buddhists which are associated with peace...have had history of persecution against other sects of buddhism. I could site close to a dozen forms of this. But, Christianity is all we hear about, why?
Now I admit, what with the inquisition and witch trials and crusades....well, it doesn't look good on their resumes...but Christians are not as a whole group bad people....
Most people I meet are either Christians or Muslims (my birth religion). And, most people I meet are not people that I would "hang" with, or make cookies for. But some...some are great. Because they are people like us. Sometimes people are good, and sometimes they aren't so great. Variety is the spice of life! :D
If you judge a man by his faith, he will in turn judge you by yours. Aren't we looking for religious equality and freedom? They let's start to dish some out.
I'm not idealized, I've had my share of bad times with horrible people. But, what keeps me going is that people are judged by me, on their personalities. Not by one factor this way or that.
Remember, most Right Wingers are not out to kill you or take your home away. But most do want to sit you down and speak some Jesus to you...it's harmless, unless it really bothers you I think we can be civilized. They believe just like we do, that they are doing the right thing. Sometimes though, the message gets lost in their actions. Please consider this. And, excersize patiece, with all the worlds creatures...Christians alike.

Howdy!
This is a great topic as I too have been told that I am going to hell and that I am wrong and MUCH worse. But I feel kinda in the middle too as I still consider myself Christian, yet they don't claim me! 8O
I guess my feeling is that there are so many people that call themselves Christian, yet show no basic beliefs of love and compassion that I just don't see how they don't see it themselves. No wonder they give people like me a bad name.
But belive it or not there are a few of us that truly feel called to follow a different path. Do I believe that there was a man called Jesus that was born years ago that taught love and compassion for all? Yes. But do I believe whatever is taught to me? No. And that is pretty much why I guess I am not accepted it their world. I don't belive in Hell, I don't believe in their creation story, I don't believe the Creator is a white man sitting on a gold throne with a white robe and beard. Yet I discuss reincarnation, mysticism, spellwork, etc. Either I am engaged in an argument at that time, or they just walk away from me, the terrible sinner that I am... :D
I am a newbie here, as you can see by my number of post(s). And am just beginning my walk along the path of truth and exploration. I hope you all will accept me with love and compassion as I learn my way :sunny:

Well...what turned out to be a heads up to everyone looks to have turned into bashing party. Some of you may not notice it, but as I read through this thread (if I was Christian) I would be offended.
Sometimes our opinions on such things are strong ones and that is our right! BUT, we must keep fellow community members in mind (christian alike.)

My personal philosophy is kind of horses for courses. That said, I have a couple of horror stories of my own about a church I attended when I was 16. But to balance it, all my great Aunts on my mother's side were Salvation Army, and they are fantastic people - 6 of 'em, all in their nineties and the most tolerant people I've ever met. I've never tried to push my beliefs down their throats, and they've never done it to me either. Do as you would be done by, I guess.
Tolerance is tough when you are being hassled, but it's a virtue.....
Lecture over!!! :D

I dunno, it seems like this subject brings out certain sentiments in people based on how they have been treated by some of the Christians. Like I have said before it's just a few loud abnoxious Christians that cause problems and many of us don't help manners by doing the same. I thought what I had said before was enough, but I suppose not.

Thanks for the Merry Meet and Lemonade Mystique! Great place "y'all" got here :D
Oh another question in general for everyone, but I guess especially Mol, can I just kinda hop in to the lessons being given. I know that I have missed a lot, but I have been reading the past posts, and would like to be able to contribute OR ask questions!
Thanks!
