Depends on the child and the age, in my opinion.

Does your child believe in Santa Clause? How did you explain that one?

Children, especially young ones, are very impressionable. If they are older, perhaps working on openmindedness is your first step. Once they have an open mind (important) you can better express your views, and they are more likely to understand, if not accept them.

Just a thought...

Hey, ive been reading some books on reincarnation. Actually they mysteriously found me. I found them in an old box of books in my closet about a year ago. The first is called Message from the Masters. It was about reincarnation, and untill then I wasnt sure I believed in it. Now I do belive in it.
Anyway, Dr Brian Weiss made a comment next time you speak to a young child, ask them if they remember being big...You may find the answers astounding, I know I did. Anyway, that may be a way to break into the conversation to your child, and explain from there.
But I recommend reading Dr Weiss' books anyway....theyrrrre Great.

On the topic of reincarnation and children we have heard some interesting things from our son. Mystichealer, who is a great friend and almost family member of ours, keeps asking him if he has ever been big. Of course we have to weed out the real answers from the cartoon quotes, but it is still very interesting. The other day at a metaphysical fair I got a reading from a wonderful lady who insisted she knew my son before. We were telling her about the things he has told us when asked if he was ever big and she asked him where he used to work when he was big and he told her the silent movies. I have never introduced him to that terminology so I am not sure where he got it from. Who knows maybe he really did work in the silent movies.

The lady who did the reading for me also let him play with her crystal ball and he was holding it and gazing ever so seriously into it. She asked him if he saw anything in it and he nodded. We all held our breaths as she asked him what he saw. He said, "I see.... my hand" Too funny!!! But she made a strong point...that we should allow and even encourage our little ones to express themselves and experiment with divination from early on.
