Anyone ever use a bleeding heart for magical purposes? I found an old post that listed its magical purpose as Love but that sounds wrong to me. I don't think something called *bleeding* heart should be used for love. Have you used it before and for what?

I haven't used bleeding hearts for magical purposes but I can see the connection to love, though. Most of these kinds of listings are pretty general.
According to Scott Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs, it says that if you crush the flower and the juice runs red, your love has a heart full of love for you. But if the juice is white, he or she doesn't love you. It also says that when grown, the plant will bring love. It could be that the flower, intact, would represent the heart full of love.
Maybe it can be used not necessarily to encourage or promote love. Perhaps it could be used for healing a broken heart in love.
Interesting thought about the bleeding hearts. That's great that you question something you don't feel right for you. I find a lot of correspondence listings are usually pretty vague. To find what each plant or herb will do magically, it's best to think of what it means to you personally. I truly believe that the magical purposes of the plants are closely tied in with their physical and medicinal properties.
