BIG YAY! I've decided to open my own design business!!!!
I love my careeer, but have been thinking of different ways I can incorporate my love of other things into becoming a lucrative venture.
I got called into jury duty one day and met this amazing woman, and we immediately hit it off. She's a realtor, and has her own business with her husband. They sell primarily in the Glendale, Pasadena and Eagle Rock areas, which is very close to where we live in Burbank.
After the day, I was chatting with my husband on how many who work in the entertainment industry (as we do) have branched out and obtained their real estate license. Also the fact that it would require too much dedication/effort/time to devote along with my full time position and housewife stuff.
Husband had a brilliant idea... As I'm addicted to all things HGTV, and that I have a great eye for design (I completely redecorated our house - bringing it from 'bachelor' to 'home'), why not start a design-to-sell business? IT'S PERFECT!
I will take homes that have been on the market and not selling and go in and work my magic to make them sellable :) My business will be called Sea Siren Designs, and I already have my logo - and art deco style mermaid. I'll have to post when I'm finished tweaking it.
We met my new real estate friend and her husband for dinner to run the idea by them. Is it a good one? Is there a need? Is the market over-saturated? They loved it... Now that we're back from vacation, we're going to reconvene with them and go over my business plan.
They've agreed to take me to a few listings to get a start, so I'm hoping to have some positive updates on my new business venture, hopefully the end of this month!
Wish me luck :)
