I would like to hear more about how we, as Pagans, explain certain subjects to our children. I am sure we can all add to something here.
Lets hear how you do it?

I have a very small child so it's easy for me now,but since I'm universal I'm going to explain religion to my child like this:
Son everyone says that christianity is the true and perfect religion, but look at it like this.Do you think God just decided to stop with one religion when there are so many different types of people in the world. If he decided to stop with one religion then why didn;t he stop with one race and make a race of all white people or perhaps stop with unsweetened tea and not make sweet tea? We wouldn't be able to have new experiances or joys or learn from others different than ourselves.God/Goddess made different types of religion to fit that person."
Ofcourse by then I'll have this more simplified and shorter for my son...I hope..

As far as other religions go I think i am just going to say...who are we to decide how anyone else worships God/Goddess? Its funny because i actually read that in a joke that my wife showed me in her email. And although I thought it was hilarious...it was actually very inspiring...
In mysterious ways..
Blessings!

I used Santa Clause lightly in another topic, but will use it here too.
Children are individuals too, and will always form their own opinion even at a young age. Sometimes it will be something as simple as the way they envision what you are saying.
I think the best way to approach children is to just approach them. They will either accept it, or they won't. In the end, it will be them who decide no matter how you try to influence them.
Promote an open mind, that is the key. Once your child is able to understand diverse points of view, they will be more receptive to your views and the views of others.
Give them the resources (education should be your priority), and they will take it from there... they always do.

I know in the NY/NJ area there are the SpiralScouts
and they have three levels of learning. Like the Boy Scouts but for girls and boys and the troop leaders are male and female so that the duality of power remains in evidence. The little ones are Acorns and they even have a group for teens calledPathfinders.
I believe they have a site on egroups.com.

7th Day Adventists have a similar group, also called Pathfinders, for teens...
I think it would be wonderful to organize similar groups for Pagan youth in our area...
...too bad... perhaps someone around here with the resources needed will get the same idea.

Maybe when our little one gets a little bigger we will try to find a group such as these you have mentioned...or maybe we will have to create one.
I think mol would be a great scout leader, as long as he can bring his laptop along on the campouts!!

i think that is key...Let them decide. They will make the right choices for their Path. It is not for us to decide their 'Spiritual Path.'
To semele and eaglewolf: Stop ganging up on me you TWO! :)
Blessings.
