It's 3:30 and that means.....ONLY 8 AND HALF MORE HOURS AND STAR WARS WILL PREMIERE!!!!
Yup, i'm a Star Wars geek. Can't help it. I'm so excited, all the reviews that I've heard so far say it's AWESOME. I can't wait. Though I have to. My son will turn 10 on Sunday and instead of a party, he asked if we could go to the movie and take 3 of his buddies, which we are doing. Eshallet and I thought about going to the midnite showing at the movie theater here, BUT, we both have to work in the AM and decided that we should wait. We may go on Friday night but depending on my son's schedule, we'll have to wait and see.
I heard this chapter is MUCH better than the last installment, Phantom Menace. I liked TPM, however, I believe there was a little too much jar jar and not enough Darth Maul, cause he was cool! Can't wait to see the big Jedi fight in Attack of the Clones. I'm so exicted. :boing: :boing:
I know, I've said it before. I'm a dork. Hey just think, the only other movie I'll be anxiously awaiting for will be in December....."The Two Towers" :D

Hubby and I bought our tickets last week. We'll be seeing it tonight at 12:01am. We even planned ahead to take off work tomorrow. Can't wait! Hoping all the "it's much better than episode one" hype is right :)

I just wish they would have named it, "The Clone Wars" or something.. cause I think Attack of the Clones sounds like a crappy horror movie. :)
But I'm sure the movie will kick bunches of butt and the title won't mean a damn thing.

Gotta question... are these scenes too much for a 6 yo? My son is a Star Wars freak, just like his dad. For his 3rd b-day, hubby took him to see Episode One and he loved it. We were planning on taking him and my 3 yo to see it on Sunday. I have no problem keeping her home, but I know my son (and hubby;)) have been really excited to go see it.
Anyone have an opinion?

He was so COOL!!!! *grins madly* That was the best part about the whole film for me.
Nallia and I kept giggling through the whole thing though, because there are lines straight from episodes 4-6...and one or the other of us would go off on that line when we heard it.
But over all...it was good, two thumbs up from me! And muey muey awesome that Jar Jar was virtually non-existant during the film!! :D
Chrissy...what other things has your son seen? (trying to get an idea of a baseline for him in terms of scary/upsetting)

NO SPOILERS PLEASE!!!!!! It's taking all of Eshallet's self control not to tell me the details, cause he's cheated & gone on line to read the plot lines. I'd like to discover things myself.

Well, he owns all 4 previous Star Wars and watches them on a regular basis. He saw Ep. 1 in the threater, no problems. He also saw Harry Potter in the theater and of course lots of Disneys. Oh and he loves Rocky Horror PS. :p He doesn't scare too easily- his favorite rides at Disney were Space Mt and the Haunted Mansion.
I could always tell hubby to see it first and come back with a report. He wouldn't mind!

OMFG!!! GO see this movie! NOW! Run! Quick. It was AWESOME!!! ranks right up there with "Empire STrikes Back" that's how good it was. The fight scenes were awesome. There were some "um, okay but what about..." points, but it didn't matter!!! Overall, it was a great film. You can see the PRECISE moment where Anakin starts down the "dark" path. It was soooo good. Eshallet liked it very much as well, but he has a feeling the last film (which will be out in 3 years) may have a "rushed" feeling to it. I don't think so. My son jumped out of his chair & started cheering during the fight scenes. And Yoda. Yoda gives Muppets respect now.
Go. Get off that darn computer and go see this movie. Quick!!! Why are you still sitting there!! Go. Now!!!

I agree you can tell when he starts..... but I think he was heading that way all the time (well we knew that.) I mean, the way he talked with Obi, if I was Obi...... I would have kicked his butt several times during the movie.
Also, I don't think the next will be rushed. You figure they don't really have to have a sex scene (even though they might), all they need to show is the storm troppers turning and then Anikans demise...... I think they could add a ton more without that rushed feeling.

Crazys.. I like star wars.. not love, but like, although i think attack of the clones has made me like star wars more than i used too.. now i like 2 episodes enough to own them on vhs *I can't help it,my first love is Star Trek*
Hehe, unlike most die hard fans, i bought my tickets.. 3 minutes before the show on opening day at my theater... apparently no one wants to see it at 6am.. whoda thought?
*chortles*
I loved it though.. I want to get in league with Amidala's costume designers.. i need like.. that ENTIRE wardrobe.. *shudders thinking*
I'm loving watching the story unfold.. liek the whole thing coming clear now, how this came to be, how that came to be.. Unlike the critics who are all pissy saying its predictable because we know the end.. i think it's still really kewl to see the "begginings"... UNLIKE star trek.. which didn't need to exist before Next Generation.. and it certainly doesn't need this new.. "older than the original setting" crappy version out now.. i get irritated when they won't use the transporters... do you know any astronauts afraid of trying something? *rolls her eyes* what crazyness.

**Laughs** Yoda was the ultimate case of whoop-arse--not just a can, a whole frelling case. :p
I do have a couple gripes about the movie, though. Mainly, the romance between Anakin and Padme seemed forced. What was Lucas thinking? "Okay, Anakin, I want you to throw yourself at Padme." I mean. . . I suppose it was in character for Anakin, whose idea of love reminded me of obsession. But that romance would have happened regardless. . . it would have been much better with a bit less dialogue.
Speaking of dialogue. . . some of C-3PO's dialogue was just too silly. The timing was good, and the comic relief was relatively well-placed in the movie. . . but it just got too corny in some places, too.
I absolutely loved that "Saruman" was cast as Count Dooku. . . that was brilliant. :D And the action scenes were simply *awesome*! My biggest regret about this film was not having Wanderer there with me at the very end. . . **soft smile** :smooch:

There was a few parts I didn't like about the movie, one being that Robo-alien.

I finally got to go see it this weekend and I have to say I walked away thinking to myself...."that was a star wars movie?"
It seemed a little too soap operay for me. The one thing that really bothered me was that this was the first starwars movie to ever show blood. When Padme gets slashed by the kitty.
And boy was she showing some skin in this one! It's hard to take a woman seriously when she's standing there in a dominatrix like outfit saying we must resist our feelings. Bah!
ANd the fights were way too short. Don't get me wrong they were great but just way too short.

Fun side note: I was talking to one of my german friends in german and he laughed at me and says sometimes, not too often but sometimes, when I speak german I say things like yoda would lol!! Yeah I thought all of their romance stuff was pretty bad, the lines were downright corny. Also anakin was a bit overdone, he acted like a major baby..
Also Question!! Her name *is* padme?? I thought that was her handmaid's name and she just used it as a cover but her name was amidala... anyone know what was up with that??

Flar the Goobs critique.
A very good movie. Much better than episode I.
Different reasons.
The best things about this one,
1. The Jedi, together interacting and dieing as a team.
2. Yoda is more fleshed out as a teacher and a warrior.
3. The romance that develops. (probably the best part from a written point of view.)
4. The Anakin, Obi Wan relationship. You see actual camaraderie with just enough youthful rebellion.(Remember, Obi was made jedi too early)
5. The Chancellor/Emperor. (Politics are very much the story of how it happened.)
6. Characters like Jar Jar and Fett are what make a good movie better. The fool and the pawn.
Unfortunately,
1. Was predictable, and I dont mean we know he is going to be Darth.
2. Too much action. Action looses oomph without choreography and story to support it. I rank it 3rd in action of the movies I have seen this year.
3. although I appreciate the entrance of Owen Lars, could have been handled much better.
4. Hopefully they correct the oversights on certain characters beginings or clarify them. (Boba Fett in particular.)
5. NOT FOLLOWING CANON!!! close enough maybe, but still off.
kinda like the Enterprise series, its nice and all but just what the heck about continuity??
4 out of 5 stars.

Yes, isn't it just convieniant as all hell that blasters and light sabers both cauterize the wounds they make so they don't bleed??? I could slice all your limbs off, no worries about you bleeding to death! Heh.. bit of a strech there methinks.
I know what this film was lacking.
1) Good acting
2) A huge space battle. They need to get two fleets of starships, a bunch of fighters, and just go at it old-school style in a huge-ass space battle. That is what made the original trilogy freaking awesome, seeing an A wing diving into the super star destroyer's bridge and bringing that monster down!!!

I liked the movie all the same. Of course it had it's differentiating substances to it. I mean, we live in a new age with new technology and new ideas. They may have been able to tone it down with the romance I agree, but having a huge space battle I dont believe would have made it a true Star Wars movie. Truth is very relative and in the eye of the beholder.

I just saw it this afternoon.
I thought that Hayden Christiensen was miscast if he's expected to be a romantic lead - he was better when he was just fighting. Natalie Portman was flat - and remember what a cool, commanding voice Carrie Fisher had, even at 21? Portman doesn't have that.
There wasn't any chemistry - I wanted Antony and Cleopatra, not Barbie and Ken.
Yoda, Obi-Wan, and Mace kicked butt though.
