I was wondering if anyone would like to chose a book ( possibly one of the ones already recommended) that we can all get, read and discuss it , do not know why but this is something that I really have a strong feeling we should try.

And I have seen this tried in other parts of the forum Esp the COT so ya anyone game let me know :)

Since no one else is stepping up, I'm going to volunteer. Let's read "Tales of a Shaman's Apprentice by Mark Plotkin. It's not an introduction to shamanism, but rather the account of a scientist as he searches for medicine in the jungle among shamans. I picked this as the first book for a few reasons: it gives an excellent framework for understanding shamanism within the context it is often practiced, it places shamanism firmly in the present, and it's avaliable for as little as $0.98 on Amazon.com. Even though it's not a how-to guide, I can't imagine anyone here regretting the decision to purchase it.

I'd like to give everyone a month to obtain and read it (though it is a fairly short read). Discussion will start around September 1st. Enjoy!

One other thing I should have mentioned is I was planning this discussion on chapter to chapter ... not an over view of the whole book. Also with me moving I am not sure I am going to be able to get the book right away for September 1, but will do my best to get it. ( I cannot order off of Amazon)
