My kitten, Minni, died today (R.I.P. Minni). :( She was very ill and had been treated badly by her previous owners. I'm glad she found her home at our place. She was with us for 4 weeks & we cared & loved her a lot. She was so cute & gentle, yet so helpless. I felt so sorry for her.. But at least her soul is in peace & light now.

I did a healing ritual for her two days ago. I put Minni in front of me & closed my eyes to meditate a bit and contemplate on her life. It was weird.. I saw two guardians standing beside her, they looked dusty and dark, they were like statues that wouldn't move nor leave her side. At that moment, I realised that Death was already awaiting her & that she had to pass away.. it was the will of nature.

I decided to pray to Bastet the Cat Goddess and ask her for help. So I invoke her for the first time and asked her: "Last time I did a healing ritual, it helped.. but it didn't help on Minni. Why?" and I heard her replying: "You have helped her more than you know". That's all she said.. I saw Bastet between clouds, in heaven, she reminded me of a cat in her full glory. I also saw she was holding the spirit of my kitten in her arms and then she said: "She has to pass away to be re-born as a healthy kitten". So, now we really hope that fate will lead us to Minni again. I have a feeling she will re-incarnate.

Random (for the tarot readers): I asked my tarot cards where Minni's soul was and got the Sun card. I knew it meant that her soul reached the light. :) Then.. later I felt something again from my cards and drew one card and I got The World (the last card of the MAs of my tarot deck, nr 21), so I realised her journey was complete. Also, the funny thing I noticed with the cards was that Minni died on July the 28th (2+8=10; 1+0=1). Card number 10 is the Wheel of Fortune (which probably means the wheel turned) and then went back to the first card, the beginning, The Magician. Now, the Sun card that I got is number 19 (1+9=10=1=The Magician). And when I finally got the World card.. I realised the circle really was complete. Amazing how numerology works.

I wonder has anyone here prayed to Bastet for their cat's health (or something else) too? In what way has she responded to your prayers or invocations? And what are your thoughts about this in general? I'm very curious since I had never prayed to Bastet before when it came to cats.

Blessings,
~Moonchild

I never have personally prayed to Bastet but I've heard good things about her. She seems really interesting and for what you are looking for..pertaining to cats...sounds like a good idea.

Bastet is a fascinating Goddess. Personally, I've never prayed to her, but I've felt a connection to her.

I have a very close bond to Bast. She is a wonderful Goddess. On of my kitties is getting up there in age, and I know that someday down the road, he will return to Bast. It comforts me when I think about his passing.

I'm sure your kitten is happy. :)

i am new to praying to bast however she has freed my mind of worrysome thoughts on more than one occation. i chose her because of my cat sedna and the very almost un- familular/ human bond. ever since i first got him he is always watching over me and is very protective. i can look into his eyes and get a feeling that all will be well. and whenever i am praying or giving offerings to bast he looks as if he is enthralled and stares at the altar until i have finished and extinguished the god/goddess candles. i truely feel as if he sees her there listening to my prayers. what does anyone else think?

Another old thread but I saw this and had to respond. I don't have any cats and I haven't prayed to Bastet for cat health, but there was one incident where I was quite sick and I couldn't move and I was laying on the floor in front of my Bastet statue and I wasn't near my Inari shrine at the time so I began to ask Bastet to please help me get up and get to my bed since I was on the floor unable to move. I laid there for a moment unsure if she would answemy request for help since she was the cat goddess after all and I wasn't sure if she only answered prayers to cats.

Soon enough I felt something push me like a dog or cat (and my pets aren't allowed in my room) as though to say get up and the pain I had in my stomach went away and I was able to get in bed and I fell asleep and the dream I had that night was I was with my spirit guide Serenity and we were in a very pretty temple and we saw a woman with a cat tail and cat ears in a ivory gown with gold jewlery and cats were around her and she smiled and said "Little Princess I hope you feel better,"

I will never forget that experience and I properly thanked Bastet by offering her some of the proper offerings to her and ever since then along with my prayers to Inari I pray to Bastet. Just thought I'd share my experience.

I would also connect Bast to the sun, also she is an Eye of Ra, a protector and avenger.

I've heard she's also the Goddess of the Moon......I don't know many things on her but is that true?

Nope, She's not a lunar goddess, at least not as far as I know. Pretty much all of the Kemetic goddesses have sun associations instead of moon associations. There are moon gods, though. :D

Actually I was just reading about that...
That connection came MUCH later.
She became associated with the moon when connections were drawn between herself and Artemis by the Greeks, they saw Horus her brother as being connected to Apollo.

There's a bit on wikipedia about it... Bastet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bastet_%28mythology%29).

She's just started making herself known to me, I'm unsure what to think of it as I always felt more connected to Morrigan.

D'oh! I forgot about that; you're very right. I tend to focus on Kemetic gods as they were before the Greco-Roman period. :)
