View Full Version : Let the Goddess Name You!

We recently did a ritual in our Women's Circle to invoke maiden energy. The ritual was taken from Shekhinah Mountainwater's book, Ariadne's Thread. This is a great ritual to invoke our maiden energy and increase self-esteem. We were all amazed by what the goddess gave us. The example given in the book suggested using words like dweller, singer, channel, giver, etc. and letting a name come to you for every aspect of your life.

We performed the ritual in a casual group, but it can also be done alone. We cleansed, grounded and centered, casted circle, invoked the maiden goddesses (most of us are partial to Brighid), put on some beautiful meditation music, opened ourselves to receiving and let the words flow. After we finished, those who felt comfortable shared their names with the group. Here is mine:

Freyja Joanne
Daughter of Odhinn
Sister of Freyja and Frey
Mother of Aaron, Adam and Jesse
Survivor of Hell
Friend of Cats and Creatures
Protector of Children
Voice of Families
Lover of Kinsmen
Granter of Wishes
Singer of Spells
Mistress of Magick
Reader of Runes
Channel of the Norns
Interpreter of Dreams
Sender of Reiki
Dweller of the Prairie
Crafter of Oils and Charms
Harvester of Herbs
Gatherer of Stones
Keeper of Hope
Sharer of Wisdom
Giver of Love
Healer of Hearts

Try this, and you'll be amazed to see just how many good qualities and blessings you have! :)

The ritual can be very healing to do during changes and crisis in your life and help you find the inner resources you need.

:) Didn't really expect a lot of replies, just posted it for informational purposes. I love Women's Circle, we've done tons of great stuff. Have a few other threads to post. We're doing pagan rosaries this month and I'll let you all know how that goes.

I'd love to see some of you share your names!

It's wonderful......I found a Miss Piggy figurine in an evening gown...I painted a crescent on her forehead with silver nail polish and she graces our table with its potluck feast.....

When I was first invited, I was new and scared to death! It turned out to be just a group of women laughing and eating and there's so much love, I never miss......

A circle would be easy to start if there's just a few women in your area who'd be interested.....hmmmm, an idea for another thread....
