I need to come up with some tips and tricks for work, for a website we're making for an appliance manufacturer, it's been pretty easy up until now, but I keep finding the same stuff over and over again, so I could use some help. :)
If anyone has any good tips or tricks (or did you knows) about the following, I'll love you forever.
1. Air conditioners and/or dehumidifiers
2. T.V.s/ Satelites/DVD players
3. Microwaves/toasters/convection ovens
5. Irons
4. Washing machines and dryers
5. Refrigerators/fridges
It doesn't have to be exactly about the product, but anything related to it.... like for Wine Cellars, I have tips on how to remove wine stains.... so that kind of thing.
If you can help, you're wonderful :D

Here's what I've come up with so far....
Never use disinfectants to clean the fridge - foods will pick up the taste and odor.
Crumpled newspaper lining the vegitable drawer of the fridge will help keep veggies crisp.
Placing a stalk of celery in a bag of bread will help keep bread fresh, longer.
Bread is delivered fresh to the store every day of the week (except Sunday) and every day has it's own color twist tie: Monday-Blue, Tuesday-Green, Thursday-Red, Friday-White, and Saturday-Yellow.
Don't throw away left over wine: freeze it into ice cubes for future use in caseroles and sauces.
When laundering clothes, add detergent to washer first. Pouring detergent on clothing can cause fabric to fade.
To keep fabrics from bleeding, at 2-3 teaspoons of salt to the wash and rinse cycles.
To open a sealed envelope, put it in the freezer for a few hours then slide a knife under the flap. The envelope can then be resealed.
Candles will last longer if you put them in the freezer for at least 3 hours before burning.
To keep dust from accumulating on your television screen, wipe it with a dryer sheet.
To get better reception in the rain, spray your satelite dish (the concave part) with Pam cooking spray.

Wrap or bag any strong smelling food - onions and garlic, chinese or italian food, etc. if you plan on leaving them in the fridge, or everything else will adopt that flavor too.
One of my favorites, an old actor trick: Fill an empty spray bottle with 100 proof vodka. When you remove clothes that are especially sweaty, immediately spray the sweatly areas with the vodka, before you toss them in the laundry basket or washer. This will instantly start to break up the sweat, and help eliminate odor. If you must wear the clothes again before washing, or they are dry clean only, this will help prevent a smell lingering once the sweat is dry, so you get more wear out of stuff before it has to be taken to the cleaners.

Good to hear from you again Amethyst. You might want to check greenroom. I think that Yvonne posted alot of these type of household hints in there a while back. :)

Oh, that's great! I wasn't sure where to look, or where to even put this message really. I suppose I could have used the search function, but that would have required thinking. :)

Thanks Yvonne :) don't worry too much about it though, it's not extremely important. As far as I know, they're happy with the few tricks that I managed to dig up. Of course, more would be good, (I told them I'd keep my eye out for more) but it's not essential.
Thanks for all your help!

Off hand I know to run vinagar threw your iron from time to time to keep mineral deposits out of it. You make sure you steam all the vinagar out and rinse it a few times when done. You do the same thing from time to time in your washer. Also vinagar makes a very good fabric softener.

White vinagar works best. It will leave a slight scent but you can give it a second rinse if it bothers you too much. It is gone within 15 mins of airing out so I have never found that nessisary.
