I'm just curious to see what books are your favorites! If your favorite book isn't listed, please post it and tell us! :D

The one I find most useful with current readings is Anthony Lewis' "Tarot Plain and Simple." Since I have a Robin Wood Deck I use a lot, I also like her book on her own deck, since it explains her thought on symbolism, which often resonate well for me, or at least make me think.

I have the Robin Wood deck as well, but only got the deck, not the book.....something I've regreted for a long time now! One of these days, I will find a copy I can browse through to see if I really want to purchase it!

the Lewis book I mentioned above also uses the Robin Wood deck as it's demonstration deck, and I think it has a good "rapport" with the images on the deck. You might check it out next time you're in a bookstore.
I've been reading for awhile, but sometimes I overlook something or somethign doesn't connect right, and I find it always has something I can use that puts things in perspective.

The only book I have right now is "The Mystical Tarot" by Rosemary Ellen Guiley, though I do refer to Joan Bunning's website quite a bit - hope to get her book some day (when I have the money) as well as Nancy Garen's. Have had good reviews from both those books. :)

I've seen Bunning's book, and it's basically a mirror of the web-site. I decided to save my money and just refer to the site when I felt the need. ;)

I do that for now, but usually I'm offline when I do my readings. ;) Probably would be handier to have the book aswell. :D

My favourite book is written by Jolanda 3 (Rosie Björkman) and is simply called Tarot. However it hasn't been translated to english and can only be found in swedish... It is a great book! Has wonderful ideas and "witch medicine" written with every card.

I have a few books I use quite a bit, depending upon what I am reading for. I highly recommend any of these, because each one gives a different perspective on a situation.
For insights into my psche:
Osho Zen Tarot - the Transcendental Game of Zen, by Ma Deva Padma. "Know thyself" is the best way I can describe this deck. This deck is great if you are exploring the inner you. The deck is centered around exploring why you are feeling a certain way, and helps gently point out what you may need to concentrate on. I've seen this deck available at local bookstores.
Easy Tarot Guide, by Marcia Masino. This is a workbook and tarot guide in one, and uses the Ryder-Waite deck as reference. The workbook is excellent for new users, or users who want to brush up on their skills. The explanations of the imagery and history are excellent. The book also crosses into other decks that have similar cards. I've used this book with Mythic Tarot cards and Celtic tarot cards to great effect.

The Tarot Handbook by Angeles Arrien is my favorite. I have the deck that goes with it but it could be used with other decks. There's a section on the constellations, your lifetime soul and personality symbols and how to figure out which year you are in. Have found those to be VERY accurate.
I have two different books that go with my Motherpeace deck and although they were written by each of the creators, they are completely different!

I agree with you Freyja. I had mentioned this book once before (somewhere on this site lol) that I also use this book for bibliomancy.
If I don't have time to draw a card, or would like to have someone else give me a meaning instead of trying to decipher it for myself (you know, when laziness hits?) I keep this book next to my bed and open it up, run my finger down the page and open my eyes when it stops.
It's been eerily accurate--plus, I learn something new each time!
I find that since I do not use the deck from the book, that some of the meanings of that exact deck don't apply to the decks that I use. However, it is facinating reading and you get to learn what the other symbols mean. I like to integrate that aspect into the decks that I have, though rare. When I see the meanings of the deck used in the book, I just try to apply it to my own life.
It's great to have one book that is almost like having a multi-tasker for Tarot people! LOLOL :D

That book sounds cool ill have to check it out :)
My favourite is called 'Tarot Spells' (Im sorry I cant remember the author of hand as Ive leant it to a friend of mine) and features lots of meditative spells and background information about all the cards. It has a spell for every occassion and although they are simpleas they only involve your tarot cards, the are very powerful as you can add and personalise them and also come to undertsand the tarot better throught them too :)

I have that book, and I've modified the things I done, but I find that she's got some good ideas, and that they work.
