For awhile now I have wanted to ask what you all do to organise your home and such for homeschooling, or if you really do anything at all.
We just moved and since it is a three story place this time, I am making the living room the main area for the desks and table. As for home work trays I reuse the noodle boxes we have and we are going to decorate some new ones this time. I am also looking for a book shelf to hold their new school books to.
As for the actual books and homework stuff I use duotangs for when we are going out to the library so that way it is not as heavy to carry, but when it is full transfer the assignments over to a three inch binder which is for the teacher that is assigned to us so she can check on the kids progress.
So ya that is my work in progress so far and with having my son join us this year will be interesting to say the least. First full year at homeschooling and the first year with all three of my kids :)

Our house is relatively small. We do 'discussion' on the living room couch. My children do their written work in their rooms at their desks. My daughter is starting to use the computer more for her writing, and she has an older computer (OFFLINE!!!) in her room so she can experiment with it as she pleases without having to vie for the opportunity to use the family computer.
Both of my children have bookshelves in their rooms.
Most of my preparation this time of year is centered around making sure there is a semblance of order in the house, finding resources, and preparing my children for their routine. I find that as my children age, their routines change according to ability. I spend a lot of time talking to them and explaining to them what I expect from them once we get started. (Not that we really ever 'stopped', but we are definitly 'shifting gears'...:))

We have tried various situations to create spaces for our kids to work in if they want to draw or write, but none of it ever worked. They like to sit at the kitchen table to work and they like to read in the living room or in their rooms at night. I gave up

I've taken over the dining room table and two book shelves. I downloaded a free program called home school tracker, which I so far hate, and I bought an organizer book that I haven't opened yet.

Oh thank you Cat for reminding me A day planner I think I am going to get one of the school ones that are for teacher planning.

Yep we are trying to get the routine started to but we are not yet successful... with moving and all the kids are still getting use to the new place :)

I bought one online from someplace I also bought a few schoolbooks. The description didn't mention it was Christian-based. So now I have Bible quotes or prayers across the top of most of the pages.
Its still a pretty good planner though.

Lolol...It's a "process", anyway..:) At this stage, I'm still considering what I actually EXPECT of them this time, since they've both matured and are capable of more now than they were before. We are still at the 'talking' stage...:)
