The entire office just got fired two hours ago. As of Friday we'll all be unemployed. We can interview for any possible open positions at a subsidiary company. However this sub. company has been trying to take us over since January and they're evil. I'd dubbed our main contact the AntiChrist because she'd be perfect for the job. We expected something like this, but not with such abruptness.

Could I ask for a lighted candle or two? We're not broke (the DH is still employed) and I will get some severance. But, well, damn.

Thanks.

Absolutely, hon. **Soft smile** Can I light a virtual candle? They're frowned upon in the office, fire hazard or somesuch. . . **grumbles**

That sucks. i'm sorry about all that hon.

I used to work for "Big Blue". I eventually worked for the "subsidary" and then a vendor till I got this steady gig.

Being laid off sucks, no matter what. ((((Hugs))) and best wishes to find a new job quick!

Ya never know, this may be a start to something brand new for you. :D

Always when these things happen there are warning signs.

It's best to have one foot off the boat at all times, if it looks like the ship is going to sink.

You need to look out for #1.

Illuminatus:

Yes, all the signs were there. I've been looking for a couple of months. (But I want to continue to telecommute, which is a very narrow field.) We just didn't expect all of us to get fired at once, and not this abruptly. I mean: 4 days? It's unfortunately the same old thing: large corporations care only about the balance sheets, not about the people. And I know it's better to look for work while you're still employed. Argh.

....*grins* I'm sure there are lots of employment opportunities for former nuns. :D

No matter if you saw it coming or not, it still sucks when things like that happens. :( Positive energies are being sent to you.

Thanks again for all the energy and candles (yes, PB, virtual "counts).

Sure, Wanderer: I could be an S&M mistress instantly. The training was perfect. Who wants to see what I can do with a ruler?

You Telecommuted!!!!! You are so lucky. I could see how it would be difficult to improve on that. You had the holy grail. Well, all good things must come to an end.

Nope, Illuminatus: I'm not going to sit down under this. I refuse to let telecommuting end. It is what I want to be doing, for me and for my family. I will work my butt off (and it could use a good workout) to find another telecommute job.

There's a candle on my desk for you tonight, Callalily. The Evil Empire that took over my work-place 4 years ago got rid of third-shift supervision. I never see anyone after 9 pm, so I could do rituals with all the bells & whistles. Oh well, I stiil hate 'em.
Here's a hug, too. Good luck, sweerie.
