Since posting and reading the pet names thread I've relized this is the perfect place to ask this question....I think my cat is truly INSANE:confused: I mean is this just a normal tabby cat thing or maybe because he is fixed?:ahhhh: I get the normal staring at a spot on the wall only he can see ...The suddenly needs to be in the other room right now stuff..But sometimes he really can be evil. :evilway: does anybody else have this problem...And should I get him a playmate...Or maybe some kitty prozak.. :ugh:

Unless he's wrecking things I wouldn't worry about it. Actually scratch that, one of mine is constantly wrecking things and he has two playmates. *sigh* Cats are nuts, that's why I love them :)

It's a kitty thing. I wouldn't worry toomuch. As long as he's not destructive. My kitty, when I was younger, would sleep all day and then run around our apartment all nite. His favorite thing to do was to play with the hall lite switch. He would race up the wall and flick the switch on and off with his back paws. He was a strange one.

My kitty now, usually just meows by the window, begging to go outside. We don't let him out any more, because there's been too much construction and too much for him to get himself hurt.

But I think he's sick right now. :( I'm taking him to the vet today to see what is wrong. Wish me luck!!!!

Good luck with your Kitty Cat Draven!!!!

I hope your cat's ok Starlite!!

My cats do the racing around the apartment for hours thing, usually starting at like 2 am. One is always chasing invisible things, trying to climb up the walls, and trying to explore every surface in the apartment simultaneously knocking everything onto the floor. Sometimes I swear the dog is paying him off - he'll knock food off the counter or desk, or throw the garbage over, and then the dog'll get into it.

Good luck at the vet's Ldy Starlite!

We have four cats. They each have very distinct personalities.

Boris is the eldest..and he's like a stodgy old man. He just wants to be left alone by the other cats..and refuses to share a dish with them. He'd rather sit around us at dinner, and hope for some crumbs to fall..so we have to set him up a seperate food dish for him at meal times. And he refuses to eat "old food" we have to pour him "Fresh" crunchy food at every meal :( he also opens doors, and sit's on the toilet to pee.

Terra, the second eldest male, is like Garfield. His only two thoughts in life...are "Eat" and "Sleep". However, sometimes, when he is in a particularly good mood, he will walk up to my youngest cat, and start bathing her. He verrrrrry rarely get's hyper..but when he does, it's hysterical. He'll run around from room to room making these mumbling noises. And when he meows, he sounds far more like a crow, than a cat. He kind of cockle doodle doo's.

Third eldest, is Winter. Now..he's the lord of the dance, as far as he's concerned. Any shred of paper within his reach, is not safe. He attacks it, holding it between his front paws, and trying to kick it with his back paws. He also pounces every other cat in the house..or bites their ankles. Not to be mean..but to play. Especially in the mornings, when he wants to go outside. Then..forget it. It's wrestlemania 2002 in this house! He's also a little lovebuggy though...and shows alot of affection toward the other cats, nuzzling up to them, licking them, and even cuddling with them on the bed. He is quite the little gentleman, too. He "Asks" to be invited up on the bed. He'll sit on the floor beside it, and "meow" very delicately, and look at me with hopeful eyes. And if I say.."It's ok Winter..come up"..he jumps up, and cuddles with me. And he ONLY naps with me. He won't approach John at all to cuddle, which makes John very jealous.

My smallest one, Summer, the only female, is by far the most energetic of them all, and yet, she's almost two years old now. She runs around like a maniac in the apartment when ever she see's a bug, or a dust floaty flying around..and meows her head off until I pay attention to what she's trying to draw my attention to. She also plays fetch with those little plastic rings that come around milk bottles, and water bottles. And in the mornings, often wakes me by slapping me in the face with her paw, or meowing incessently, until I wake up, and toss one of the rings for her to retreive. She also tweaks out at shadows, bird sounds, anything that moves. Something moves, and she's on the case!

She'll often tear azz through the apartment as if Hells Hounds are chasing her, and for no reason at all that I can see. ..back and forth, and all around like a complete nut.

It's funny to watch.

My cats do the same stuff. No worries, that's just the way they are. =^_^=

Hope the kitty's ok soon!

I used to have a kitten named Dinky while I lived in Va. She never got any bigger than 1ft from nose to tail, and permanatly acted like a kitten. (I had her for two years).

At my dad's house there is a heavy oak door. We lived in the suburbs, so she had to be an inside cat. Yeah, right. Whenever she heard that door open, she'd come racing from wherever she was to get outside. Hardly ever made it in time. You'd close the door and hear a little 'thuck' from inside. I don't know how many times she hit that door headfirst! <insert laughing smilie here>

I used to have a Siamese cat that would tear around the house too, only she would run full speed into walls, seemingly intentionally. I'd be watching TV and I'd hear her scurry down the hall, followed by a loud crash, and a little later a feeble "meow".

I've heard that cats naturally hallucinate when they get excited. Perhaps this accounts for some of their craziness.

Well I feel a little better..I'm not a big cat person i've always had dogs.I've had two cats in my life both male tabbys and both nuts!My friends cats are sweet loving and tiny compared to the monster that jack is..hee hee.By far his fav thing to do is lay on the foot rest of my recliner and wrap his paws around my legs and start biting the heck out of my feet ..

Just a note:

You do probably want to discourage him bitting like that. I don't know how old he is, but cats can bite pretty darn hard, and it's not fun.
My second oldest was encouraged to bite by an old roommate's boyfriend. And I cannot break her of it now. It's hard, because she can get overexcited and almost break the skin.

Mine goes crazy when it's windy outside. But she also bits if she hasn't seen me all day (she has drawn blood twice in 11 years). If I ever go away for a few days, she will sulk and not speak for days when I get back.

Most kitties are nuts. It's why I like them so much.

And, as a side note. My kitty is fine. It's fleas that he got from the dogs.....<mumbles stupid dogs>. I kept saying that but OTHER people kept insisting 'noooooo the dogs are fine, they don't have fleas..........never mind.

I'm just relieved though, they Vet gave him a shot to try & help with the itch. They even clipped his claws for me, because when I was getting him in the carrier, he gouged me pretty good with his back paws. Doesn't like the carrier much.

He has to go back in 2 weeks to get his shots.

Now he's sleeping in the recliner, waiting for me to go to bed.

Ain't it funny how most cats sleep all darn day & go bonkers at nite?

well, unless kitty starts chasing tail, or batting inanimate articles
around, or pouncing on your feet in your sleep, or rubbing against
you all the time,.........well then dont worry! Otherwise call a
kittyologist!

just kidding....dont worry. I would worry if kitty is not that playful,
one sign of begining illness.

I've noticed that when I'm home he only goes nuts every once in awhile but when my boyfriend get home he really puts on a show. Its the same when rusty gets home first jack will pester him for attention but he'll be calm untill I get home .We both work nights . One of these days I'm going to tape him and send the tape in to animal planet. Some of his stunts rusty thinks should be worth the 100 bucks and a T shirt.. WandererInGray you can blame the bitting on rusty playing rough with jack as a kitten..He only does it after I've had a shower..Maybe they put catnip in the shaving gel I use on my legs.. hee hee

I have two kittens, Stella and Awesome. . . Stella's the girl, and she's a sweetie! She'll be a good mouser. . . ^_~

It's Awesome that has a weird quirk. He'll be playing or something, then he'll nip the tip of your finger, and. . . .proceed to try to suckle  he's a cutie, but it's really funny seeing him try to nurse your finger.

LMAO!! I was wondering where they went to! He must've heard me typing about him, because he just dragged himself out from under my dresser. . . I keep telling those cats. They're gonna squeeze under, take a nap, grow, and not be able to get back out, but will they listen? :D

He also meows like crazy! He meows for attention, for food, for everything. . . and sometimes for no reason at all! I swear, he just likes the sound of his own voice. . . :D
