That's great that you brought this up again. I don't read with them but have been thinking about giving them a try. I'll read through these threads. Thanks!

When I was in my early teens I tried to read playing cards, it was fun, but I feel more comfortable with my tarot cards though :)

I tried a while back, but didn't spend nearly enough time on it. :dis:

I remember doing it as a teen, but didn't take any of it too seriously back then can't even remember how to do it now!! Friends used to do them at parties just for fun mainly.

I've been playing with these the last couple of weeks & have gotten pretty good readings from them.

I have a friend who only reads playing cards and she swears by them. Will have to look into it. Actually, will have to get me a deck :D

heheh...While I think about it... Does anyone know why certain cards are they way they are...for example: the King of Diamonds is in profile, while the others are not....and the Jack of Spades carries a spiral-thing (not sure what it is)?

8O Just a curious person paying too much attention while playing card games.

Mithrea: :T I gotta get my self the "I AM" deck. :D

I started by reading playing cards. Sometimes I like them better than my tarot cards. Actually, I love my tarot cards, because they're pretty. But, my regular cards are so much easier for me to read. Maybe, because I know most of their meanings by heart, and there's no Higher Arcana, which has a tendancy to confuse me.

I got a deck and brought them home. I went to sleep while I was messing around with them. I woke up and they are all over the room. So I haven't really done anything since. And for some reason don't want to

I wonder if Tarot cards with the pip cards without the "pictures" just the suit symbols on them would be the same as playing cards. I have a deck like that, and usually, I rely on the pictures on the cards to help me interpret them. :)

"pip"?

Not sure if I'm right; regarding the kinds of "pips" that she's talking about. But I was a dealer on a boat and when I was in training I learned that the suits are "pips" and that to be a good dealer one should learn the shapes that the pips form and not to look for the number.

In short all the little shapes (hearts, diamonds, spades and clubs) are pips.

Did I make that as clear as mud? lol

Pip cards are the numbered cards. The pips in my first deck is like yours, Flaire. That could be the reason I never really connected with them. Good point.

No problem...

I was thinking of sticking post-its to the cards to help me interpret them..though that certainly wouldn't look good, would it? :D

I used the playing cards to read for a friend last week & she said it was dead on. It just doesn't feel very consistent. Either they're right on or I have no clue what they're talking about. I wonder if I just need more practice.

I read with Playing cards. I have a tarot deck, but I've never gotten used to them or been comfortable with them. I like the simplicity of playing cards, the versatility, and the practicality. I've started to collect decks from places I go or that just appeal to me. I also find that there is more room for interpretation, psychic or otherwise, than with Tarot. I find I can focus more on what conclusions the cards are guiding me to than the cards themselves, which is a problem I have with Tarot. I tend to collect and adapt tarot spreads to use in my readings and have never had a problem. I've studied and use many types of divination, but this one seems to have chosen me. It's taken me a few years and a lot of work to find the divination method most suited to me! (No pun intended... >:) )
Light and love!
