Seeing Danus's thread on bird totem's has just got me thinking about something a bit more macabre..
My male cat (Wolf) has brought two birds in, in the last two days, both times I have found this very disturbing and its taken a good ten minutes to rescue the bird from his grasps and get it out of the house.
Does this mean anything in bird divination???
(except there are lots of fledglings (even though they are quite big and can fly) about at the moment and my Wolfy is going mad for them!)

I would guess it would depend on the bird.
I've also had several experiences like that. One time, a cat brought me a sparrow, another time, a wren. And I also was at the laundromat one day, and was standing outside while my laundry was in the wash, and a sparrow swooped in and crashed against the newly cleaned fiberglass windows. It fell to the ground, stunned. I was able to pick it up, to check it out and make sure it wasn't bleeding. I held it in my hands for a while, speaking soothingly to it, and it didn't seem eager to leave at all. I was only cradling it, so it could get away if it wanted to. Instead, it just stared up at me with it's head cocked to the side. Eventually, it decided it was well enough to fly away, and did so. Then, it circled back, and perched on a rafter under the porch at the laundromat, looking at me. And one time, a wren flew into my open window here in the apartment. If your cat is your familiar, perhaps it is bringing you this particular bird, in order to help you see the specific quality you need to learn about...
Wren, means boldness, and resourcefullness..
and Sparrow, means triumph, and awakening, showing one how to survive.
I would try to find out what birds these are that are being brought to you. My friend told me that since this bird flew into my open window, she thought that it's message was very important, so important that it came directly to me, braving my four cats.

Well, bird divination is called ornithomancy.......here's a tiny bit from a site....it involves divining from flight patterns and songs. Will try to find more info.

:( Had to stop feeding my birds because the stray cats that I feed were trying to get them......and they kept spilling the feeders. Did get a nice sunflower crop out of the deal, though!:T

:T or next doors grass is so long its turned into Serengetti (sp) for Wolf!
& he's just done it again just an hour ago!
I really dont know what kind of birds they are.. so im trying to ignore the prospect of it may 'mean' something now!
I just feel so sorry for them, they fly away after I eventually catch wolf and the bird and seperate them (after lots of growling too) so I hope they survive.
Theres no bird feed around, I just think its the long grass.. and time of year.
Thanks for the link Freyja ~ I find it all interesting, but Im not really that drawn to it.. (if you know what I mean)...
