...that doesn't truly belong in the other thread because it is going to be a unique OOAK deck entirely hand-painted. You have seen a couple of the designs already - they were done for an ACT deck for another forum, & I will be using substantially the same ideas, but with a little more elbow-room as they will be "Tarroti"-sized.
They are going to be painted in egg tempera over gold-leaf; the backs will be gold-leafed & stamped with a genuine Medieval design. The box - ah, the box! :D - will be made of Sculpey, with the 4 panels all done in the same pattern as the backs, in raised relief; there will be a deep crimson enamel in the grooves of the pattern, & the surface will also be gold-leafed.
The inside will be lined in a gold brocade that has exactly the same pattern as the stamp in black. (Of course, it is reversable - I could always go the other way!) The lid will be lettered in Gothic script - not sure yet whether it will just be gold-leafed in a gorgeous font, or possibly done in raised letters - though I think this would most likely be less successful! I may figure out a way to do it, though!
Do tell me what you think. (Was ever an artist more Tarot-obsessed than I?? :p )
