Favorite cologne men?

Sora

my favorite is patchouli oil. I can't use it all that often. It makes my Mom and Dad want to gag.lol :) But its that unmistakeable aroma that gets me :)

Mmmmm! Jasmine and Vanilla....have to try that sometime:D

buttercup
May 28th, 2002, 01:56 PM
It's a 3/4 jasmine 1/4 vanilla mix. I used to get it through Garden Botanika before they went exclusively online (at least up here in Washington State). I purchased five vials of it before they closed and am not sure yet where I'll be getting it when I run out.

Sowelu
May 28th, 2002, 02:00 PM
I will definately try that. Thanks! Do you use pure 100% essential oils??

Sowelu
May 28th, 2002, 03:01 PM
I like a good strongly scented patchouli candle...ususally I make it myself:)

Azure
May 28th, 2002, 06:09 PM
I had an ex who used to burn patcholi candles in his bedroom all the time. I can't smell a patcholi candle without thinking of Kyle. . . At least, that one isn't a bad thing. Just a long over one :)

Elizabeth Arden's Green Tea

Kalosi
May 28th, 2002, 06:18 PM
I love Fresh Patchouli by Jovan an White Musk Fantasy by Parfum de Couer. (My lifemate loves them too - I get great results!!)

For guy's smells, well, there's no beating a fresh shower smell. That clean smell is really great!

Mnemosyne
May 28th, 2002, 06:43 PM
I agree Kalosi; I love when a man has a nice fresh, clean smell.

I could never get into patchouli. My friend will only wear patchouli, so when I smell that scent, I immediately think of her. I love how smells remind us of events or people in our lives.

Like other people, I love Elizabeth Arden's Green Tea. If I wear perfume, I either wear that one or Lancome's Oui. Lately, perfume has been bothering me, so I am leaving all my other bottles alone for the moment.

Usually, I wear vanilla scented lotion or freesia scented lotion. The smell of vanilla and freesia are definitely my favorite.

Azure
May 28th, 2002, 07:18 PM
I love layering fragrance on scented lotion too. . . Green Tea combines well with lots of stuff - especially citrusy stuff.

Sowelu
May 28th, 2002, 08:12 PM
Yah!:D

Neptune
May 28th, 2002, 10:16 PM
The citrus part is what I love about the Green Tea

Annika
May 28th, 2002, 10:19 PM
Well, maybe not an actual observation since it's related to smell and I always consider an observation to be something I see.

Anyway, when the girl your roommate is dating wears a considerable amount of patchouli and your roommate is impressing her with homeade spaghetti sauce (I'm sure the spaghetti came with the sauce), the aromas do NOT mix well together.

As for my favorite scents, I love Green Tea. And a guy wearing just the right amount of Drakkar is very nice to be near.

Once again, thanks for another good tip, Azure.

What is up with so many of us on this community liking Green Tea?

Danustouch
May 29th, 2002, 01:44 PM
On men, either Drakkar (i know..old and corny..but..ahhhhhhh), Sandalwood, or Patchouli.

For myself, I use Body Shoppe perfume oils, Vanilla, Fuzzy Peach, or Cucumber (believe it or not..it's just a nice, clean, light scent..which is very nice).

I also use some hand blended perfumes that I got at King Richards Faire, I couldn't even tell you what scents were in them, because I don't know anymore..lol.

I used to love Odyssee from Avon...

and I also sometimes use Rose Perfume Oil, or Lilac Perfume Oil, and right now, am using Ginger Lotus (don't know who makes it).

Sowelu
May 30th, 2002, 06:24 PM
I start with a shower gel....something like grapefruit scented (great in the summer time)

Put on a body lotion of similar scent

Dust on some body powder of similar scent

Then top it off with a light mist of Green Tea

Did you know there are also Iced Tea and Spiced Tea out now by Elizabeth Arden???:mmm:

You know, I find fresh sweat kind of an appealing scent on a guy. Now, he has to have been clean to begin with, but then coming in from jogging or something with the adrenaline flowing a bit. . .

Or maybe it's just me.

cherrywind
May 30th, 2002, 07:39 PM
I agree Azure, it must be those pheramones!
I don't like any sort of cologne on a guy, either they really bother my nose and make me sneeze, or they just stink.
What I do like is the smell of "ocean surf" speed stick deoderant. Of course, I might be a bit biased because that's what my boyfriend wears ;).

Azure
May 30th, 2002, 10:16 PM
I had an ex who used to swim in cologne. Usually CK, but whatever he thought was trendy. I still really like scents on men, but, as with women, there is a need for subtleness.

And I hate guys who pour on the scent rather than shower. EEEwwwwwww.

Danustouch
May 30th, 2002, 10:46 PM
Ugh..I SO agree with that Azure. Nothing is more disgusting. It smells like a sweaty gym sock, just being covered up by rubbing alchohol when they do that.

Another GREAT guy scent..don't know if it's still around..but

Abercrombie and Fitch!

For myself, I like rosemary or sandalwood oil, sometimes patchouli; there're very few perfumes I can stand for long, though I like Love's Rain Scent. Anything green, sharp, and herbal or mildly dark and musky.
I like pretty much anything for guys, used *in moderation* on them. It scary when they drive by and you can smell cologne. That happened earlier tonight.

Just discovered the perfum market on ebay. i am doomed.

WandererInGray

*chuckles*

For moderately expensive, I like Aveda's Equipoise Chakra III scent and a perfume by Aroma M called hana-cha

Recently though, the only thing I've been wearing is a dab of Frankenscense and Myrrh oil. I like the spiciness of it, I think.

*gags* Can't stand the smell of patchouli, it reminds my of my college years and unwashed potheads who thought it covered up the other smells.
To this day I can't smell the stuff without also having my brain dreg up pot and dirty socks. :D

Happy - Clinique
Hypnotic Poison - Christian Dior
Wrappings - Clinique

I'd pick someone's natural body scent over any artificial scent any day - granted they shower once in a while, of course. I don't even use deodorant! The closest I come to artificial scents - except for my shower gel, which has a very soft and neutral smell - is the lotion I sometimes use on my feet, hands, and face, but it contains very little perfume - if any - and doesn't really count, IMO.

I'm mad sensitive to strong perfume-like smells - we were in the mall the other day and tried to found a nice bathing oil. After smelling three bottles (lavender (HATE!!!), eucalyptus, and ylang ylang), my eyes were burning. We ended up with a bottle of oil very much like my shower gel (same brand even - the mall's own) - soft and neutral.

Not to mention the bathroom at home... Don't get me started! My mom claims to be sensitive to strong smells too, yet the bathroom smells perfume factory after she's been there...

I really don't like many perfumes, I nor my husband wear them much...fresh clean body scent is usually the best.

I do like the scent of Anne Cline 2 for women...but they don't make it any more, so...
Gloria Vanderbilt is the scent I use on occassion.

For men I really love, Grey Flannel by Geoffery Beene, it has a very masculin scent that is not overbearing or sweet.

This is kind-of surprising, but my fav perfumes (and cologne I like smelling on guys) haven't even been mentioned here!

I alternate wearing two Versace perfumes, Red Jeans (http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P4113&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=S22222) and Metal Jeans (http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P6988&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=S22222) , depending on my mood. They highlight (to me, anyway), different facets of my personality that I want to bring out that day.

On men, I just can't get over Calvin Klein's Crave (http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P36737&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=S33333) . It's just sooooooo good. :mmm:

How about Deep Woods Off? :ahhhh:

Just kidding, but there are too many bugs here! :ugh:

I'm for the most part allergic to perfumes and colognes. I hate it when people douse themselves in the stuff instead of actaully taking a bath. :blech: Disgusting!

I reckon my favorite scent would be the smell of clean clothes when dryed with a snuggle fabric softener.

The best perfume I've ever had is Gloria by Cacherel. I got so many comments when I wore it but I've never seen it since. On men I'm a sucker for Joop, the last 3 b/f's all wore it. The smells i love in general are petrol and new carpets. Whenever iget a new carpet I have to crawl around the floor sniffing it.

I'm now totally hooked on Bath & Body Works and their Coconut Lime Verbena body spray, lotion and shower gel. For a commercial product, it really contains a lot of natural ingredients, which I like. And the smell is delicious!

Perfume? I'm actually drawn to the cheap stuff. I like Sand & Sable. I've liked it ever since I was a teenager, and I still wear it 20-some years later.

Natural scents/Essential oils: Bergamot! Neroli, lemon verbena, lavender, sweet orange, lime and other citrus-y scents.

Mmmmm anything coconut scented I love!!! Michael Kors perfume reminds me alot of Sand & Sable.

Perfumes and colognes typically give me mad headaches... I looooves essential oils though! My faves are citrusy scents (satsuma in particular) as well as sandalwood and patchouli. (Yahyah...dirty hippie, i know! :bigredgri)

Pretty much all the commerical stuff is just too fake smelling for me.
you know, my favorite used to be Cool Water.. but since I started buying stuff from BPAL, I've noticed even that smells just.. cheap and yucky to me, very fake.

for those who are wondering, BPAL is Black Phoenix Alchemy Labs and their website is www.blackphoenixalchemylab.com

My perfume is "Lavendertheraphy" from the Healing Garden. Smells amazing and is only $5 a pop, too.

Oooh! I had to post here. Okay, so I'm not a girl but I do have a favorite body fragrance...my girlfriend has it and it drives me insane! It's called Love Spell by Victoria Secret. I don't know what it is about that smell but :heybaby:

I wear Lauren, just plain Lauren, not all the new scents he keeps putting out. I only wear it when I go out though. Daily I like the Aveeno stress relief body wash and lotion. It has camomille, lavender and ylang ylang. Smells great!
