Two Heart Attacks!

I recieved this in my mailbox today:

"Hi All

I'm really not a very religious person, but I'd like to ask you all for a favor. Could you say a little prayer for my dad. He's in the hospital (has been since the day before Mother's day). He had a stroke and since then has had two small heart attacks (nitroglycerin alleviated the pain each time). Every time he seems to be getting a bit better, he takes two steps backwards. Even if you aren't religious, I think a little word to "whomever" might help a bit. I'll keep you informed.

I got this today from Nina!!

"First....thanks to everyone!!!!! Your prayers helped so much.

The day after my last e-mail to you, dad was a bit better.....his speech and swallowing were improved and he was pretty coherent, but the following day he had a rather ugly setback. He didn't recognize my mother, didn't know who he was, or why he was in the hospital.....he was extremely dehydrated, probably due to the unusually huge dose of diuretics he had been given because he was retaining so much fluid, and he had lots of dried blood in his mouth (not sure how that happened). But today mom called and said he was greatly improved!!!!!!!!! :-)

No more heart pains. Eating and swallowing a little better. He had no problem with recognition...and when mom walked into the room he gave her a smile and said...."You're my wife....you're the best. I love you!" The doctors have finally regulated his meds much better. His heart promised my mother that before he would release dad from the hospital, he would absolutely make sure dad could at least walk a bit.....enough to get him ready for the nursing facility. Dr. Hanna didn't care if the HMO gave him a rough time about keeping dad in the hospital longer than they (HMO) would pay for. He'd fight for dad!!!

I know that dad will never be able to live at home anymore, and that he will have his good/bad days....but I honestly believe that your thoughts and prayers are doing wonders for him. I'M SOOOOOOOOOO BLESSED TO HAVE FRIENDS LIKE YOU IN MY LIFE. Love you big bunches. Nina"
