Okay, I didn't really know what forum thread thing to put this into.. so, bear with me, heh. Well, anyways, I was just wondering if anyone knew any good Shamanism web sites that I could go to. Maybe a site that has the history, practices and such forth? Welp, hope to hear from ya. Thank you everyone! :D :D BB and MP, all.

This is in my "favorites" though I have never had the time to read it. So, I'm not vouching for it, just offering it. ;)

You might try...

http://www.irminsul.org

...don't recall specifically if there are any shamanism links there, but since it's essentially an Asatru site, & since Odin is the Original Shaman in the old Germanic/Norse stories, there's probably something to be found there...

The term 'shaman' generally refers to someone who has been initiated, through a voluntary act of suffering & self-sacrifice, so as to gain esoteric knowledge...

"I know that I hung on the wind tossed Tree
all of nights nine,
wounded by spear, sacrificed to Odin,
sacrificed myself to myself,
upon that Tree of which none knows
from what roots it doth rise.

"Neither horn they upheld or handed me bread;
I looked below me-
aloud I cried-
caught up the Runes, caught them up wailing,
thence to the ground I fell again.

...

"Then I began to grow & gain in insight,
to wax in wisdom:
one verse led on to another verse,
one poem led on to another poem."
