Black Figures

A friend of mine called me a little bit ago and asked what sort of creatures is about the size of a grown man, is solid black and has glowing yellow eyes. It's out of my realm of knowledge so I was wondering if you guys had any ideas. He saw it at about 2:40 this morning at the bottom of his basement stairs.

Does sound like shadow people, although I have never heard of any with glowing yellow eyes. My boyfriend has a lot of experience with these and I know a few people with quite a lot of knowledge on them. In my opinion they're relatively harmless though, so no worries.

You say he saw this at 2:40 in the morning though. Do you know what the lighting conditions were, was he tired, is there a road near by, etc. which could make shadows? My point is to make sure it wasn't anything more mundane before considering the possibility of shadow people. Although they do exist, its always best to check for mundane possibilities first.

We ran the whole gambit of what could have been there. There are no lights in the basement, it's unfinished. Right now he has a webcam set up to see if anything else should pop up.

I just thought I'd ask. I'm an investigator at heart, lol. Its good that he has a web cam set up too. Maybe he could take pictures as well to see if anything pops up? Although if you do go that route, make sure you're using the right type of camera for that. I'm pretty sure they've caught shadow people on film before at least lol. Anyways, good luck in finding out what this thing is. :)

We also have a digital recorder set up. His uncle has been screwing around with things he probably shouldn't. He's convinced it's a demon, but I'm not so sure. He's also in a strange part of town.
We've got all the bases covered, unless I'm missing something.

There is another dark man at Peterborough Museum(not sure if I got the name correct)....and he's very P.O.'ed ghost.

Was your friend taking any medication? If he was, then it's possible that it distorted his vision--some of the meds can make you drowsy and impair vision like allergy or flu meds. Failing that, it WAS at 2.40AM and not being fully awake can distort vision too. If he did happen to be fully awake for whatever reason, and not medicated, then I think you do have a dark presence.

He works the night shift so he was wide awake. He wasn't on any medication, so I've ruled out altered state of mind. He's not the kind of guy that would make something like that up.

I called him my "dark man." He's never done anything to me. He just stands there. Always by my chest of drawers. I had thought he was a ghost that follwed me (because I've moved several times and he's always been there). Any ideas what they are? Or why they hang around?

Yes, I bought it new when I was 14. So it's about 15 years old. I thought if that too, that the dark man may be attached to the furniture or something. One friend of mine suggested that ghosts can "attach" themselves to something organic, like wood, and travel that way. But I don't know if that theory has any merit or if it's a guess.

I was just coming on here to discuss somthing similar. Oh gosh, is this like a wierd rash of shadow people or somthing?

When I was very young I used to see shadow people walking around my parents room and my room at night...but this, this was so different.

Last night at around 1 o`clock I was feeling so restless. I turned over, to snuggle my husband and there was this figure. A solid black figure sitting next to my husband. Not dangerous, not threatening, but just sitting there.

I watched it for 5 minutes. I thought it was a burglar. I didn`t know what to do...But then it just...vanished...dissappeared as I watched it. As quick as I could I turned on the light, it was gone.

It scared me so badly that I was awake until around 4am. The apartment isn`t haunted, no old stuff. Nothing. I`m so scared of seeing him again. Eek.

I never knew they were so well defined... but yes, I've experienced them... I see them on my land....I always assumed they were aboriiginal spirits.... i looked at the wikipedia entry.... and the thing rings true about them being 'formerly human'.. I always gathered they were spirits that hadn't yet gone back totally to the spirit of the land.. like a piece of carrion.. that lasts for a while before it slips back into the earth...so too do our spirits... and i have wondered if spirits who die badly might lst longer like a coprse lasts longer in dry seasons than in wet seasons...

long and short, i never feel the even notice me... they are like a tree stump.... without interest or conciousness in us...
I don't believe in hauntings... but maybe I believe in echos.

but long and short, I don't believe you need concern yourself with them at all.

when i was 9 my mother passed away and i stopped being afraid of things (for some reason) and began letting myself see the darker creatures trying to contact me instead of just the guides- i remember sitting in front of my TV watching some show, in a break in scenes the screen went dark and i saw something behind me- so i turned around, it was a tall black figure, glowing yellow eyes and horns (typical looking demon) with like oxyclean kind of white teeth. Being me, i wasnt scared, it seemed to bug it that i was just content- so he smiled, moved around, sat next to me, stuff like that. I told him to go pound sand and he gave up. since then, ive seen just about everything, but havent worried- when you figure out what it is, let me know, hm?

hmm.. well i would say its not a shadow person- i could be wrong- but if his uncle has been pulling things into the house, i doubt its as simple as a shadow person- what kind of feeling do you get from the house? and your friend?

He feels very uneasy. Especially in the basement area. I took one step in the door and was incredibly revolted. It was overwhelmingly bleak in there. I couldn't be in the house more than five minutes.
