I am applying to an MFA program, to be done at home - with residencies in lovely downtown Montpelier, VT.

I left my 2nd batch (ARGH!! :bad: 1st batch was a MESS of undevelopable film) of slides at the drugstore. They had BETTER be back TODAY - everything is due up in VT by SATURDAY!!! :(

I am SO NERVOUS!!! :awwman:

My father took these, outside, in BRIGHT sunlight - it was the ONLY way to get them done! I am PRAYING that they came out well enough to actually SEE something in them!!!

I also have a problem with a letter of recommendation. They are ADAMANT that you must have 3 - no mean feat for someone who has been out of school for 20 years! Well, I did have classes (I remember vividly going to OCC in Syracuse, NY at the time when "SW" came out) but I am NOT in touch with any of those teachers, & it was still quite a while ago!!

The person I asked was my building super. She is very busy, though I know she would do it if she could...

I applied to the MA program in spring & got in with 0 problems - but the thing about that was, I NEED the F in there. Without that ("Fine"), I am NOT going to be able to do what I need to do with my life. So I withdrew from that program...

The 3 folks who did my letters that time are inaccessible for this time around - or just about...

1 is someone who supervises an art program for disableds like me (I'm bi-polar) - but, they are also EXTREMELY picky about your having produced your work "without supervision". Now, this wasn't really supervision for me - I did what I wanted, & occasionally had an opinion thrown my way. But I'm pretty sure that the school wouldn't see it that way.

So Anne can't do the letter, & I know it was a good one.

The other 2 have left. I was a volunteer over at the library for about 3 years, while my buds worked over there - Tiffany, who was boss for a while, & Anthony, the clerk who directly oversaw volunteers. I left because they were run out of there by TRULY ickily heinous politics on the board's part - long story, but Tif wanted to be home with her baby anyway, & Anthony NEEDED a better job & managed to get one in Allentown. So he is in the process of going back & forth & moving now - VERY busy, I don't think that he can do one for me this time.

I also needed their phone #'s on the form I had to submit online, that is, the people who were doing my letters. I didn't have either of their phone #'s.

However, it looks as though I might be able to have Tif do one after all - I have her e-mail, & if it's ok at the school to do it, I'll have to switch mid-stream & have her write me one! She would be so much better - she knows me & has worked with me...

UGH! I'm just TEARING MY HAIR OUT here!!!

Well, I needed to vent...

Calming and positive energies flowing to you.

Here's hoping that everything works out the way you want!

Thank you SO much, Annorah!! Right now 1 of the things keeping me going is the class! ;)

I'm thinking I may just HAVE to go to Anne - I don't know if Tif can do this, she may not even get my e-mail until it is too late - maybe I'd better pop over there & talk to Anne again! :(

Well, worse comes to worst, you can always try for two more days and then overnight your portfolio & letters and stuff to VT, with tracking number. At least then, you'd know when it got there and for light media like that, it won't cost much at all...not more than $10, I bet.

Actually, it should cost close to that because I have to mail a heavy slide carousel - then 2x over that, because I have to include return postage!

& the letters are to be mailed - or e-mailed - straight from the person to the school. 1 of the BIG reasons for my nervous-wreckedness is due to the fact that I have 0 control over any of this.

BUT, there is GOOD news!! :D

I talked to the assistant director for the program today, & SHE told me that I could in fact BACK UP my crummy slides with digital images!!!! :D WOW am I ever RELIEVED about that! I HOPE that it gets to giving the idea to the people in charge that a) slides are hopelessly outdated, & b) that a person's work suffers when not presented as well as is humanly possible - & this means digital, like it or not!

I do in fact have a couple of extra days, thank Gods for that 2 also!! :D I just have to pop on over to the Link & talk to Anne - heaven knows I DON'T really want to have to ask her, not because she won't do it but because this relationship that I know her from may cause suspicion. I.e.: she helps to run a drop-in center that has an art studio, where I was working for the past 3 years. According to the school, there should have been "0 supervision" when creating one's portfolio. Well, there you go right there - what if they consider that "supervision"???? I did my own thing, & was just there so I wouldn't be totally alone - but there, it IS a "class" of sorts...

Well, like it or not, peeps (in VT, I'm meaning here!!) this is ME, this is what I have, & this is how talented I happen to be. I know how right I am to get in - but if I don't, I'll just commit to my deck & work on it as hard as I can, to get out of here finally!

Oh yeah - btw, the images look like they are at the wrong end of a telescope in these pix my father took. *sigh* :awwman:
