Ok i'm new at this so if i get this wrong i need you to help me lol
Runic Number: 23
Letter: O
Old English Name: Ethel
Meaning: Home, Homeland, Estate, Property
Element(s): Earth (and air accd. to some sources)
Zodiac Sign: Gemini
Gemstone: Ruby
Colour: Deep yellow
Introduction
Othila links with the home extend to represent ancestral wisdom - that which is passed down to us. It reminds us that as one life ends the next in line must 'pick up the baton', the wisdom and responsibility and continue on the journey.
Interpretation
Upright.
This rune may indicate some gain through inheritance or perhaps even through birthright. It is a time to develop latent potential.
Be on your guard but always act fairly, the opportunities exist to achieve great wealth for those who act with honour.
Inverted
Lack of planning or poor preparation may lead to problems. Inactivity results in lost opportunities.
Responsibilities must be grasped and taken seriously.
ok hopefully i got this right ????????

The Rune Poem - Verse XXIII
The homeland is beloved by every man,
where all is right and fair
he may enjoy this place
and prosper in peace.

Othila, or Odalrunan as I call it. It is also called Sivs runa (Sivs rune) and Othala.
Stands for:
family and whats close to you, friends, feeling or being secure and safe, ancestors, growth and plants. It stands for family and friends, for being safe and knowing your roots and our ancestors. Sometimes it tells us about other incarnations, about previous lifes. When you get this rune the advice is often to spend more time with family and friends.
Wear this rune if you wish to feel "at home" and safe.

Yes...."immobile" wealth, the kind that is passed on through families from generation to generation and is not to be bought or sold.

Othila represents possessions... the good things that money can bring... it symbolizes the comfortable, safe home or environment... it speaks of orlog, which is ancestral wyrd (well, sort of)... it is generally accepted as the 23rd Rune in the Elder Futhark (it is shown as the 24th Rune in only one known Rune Row)...
BTW... what happened to Runes #19-22? :T

Here's a picture of Othila. The Little Giant Encyclopedia of Runes states that it's depicted as the womb and legs of the Goddess standing:

I think the last two ruens like to be swapped about just to confuse everyone! Ive always thought this was the 23rd but know it can be represented as the 24th rune too..
the last rune is Dagaz.. can we wait a little until we start off this rune as Id like to give everyone a chance to catch up on all these before we finish these discussions (8O gettin sentimental now!)

no mistake.. it was great as it brought up why these are mixed up!..
Othila stands for home and reminds us of Fehu, the fist rune, thus it kind of completes the cycle with this tie and the thought that we have come home..
with Dagaz begining a new day! :sunny:

Land and all that ties in with this, so ~ home, property, belonging, inheritance, guardians, fate, past families that have lived on the land, or your past family, the power of your past clan and the land..
This is a very powerful rune that ties in all the other runes of the futhark so far ~ it is sometimes mistaken for the last rune because of this and also brings us back to Fehu with is material and spiritual wealth, this is material and spiritual fate, our home.
"There's no place like home" it says to us and reminds us that once this lesson is really learnt on the spiritual level we will really gain our answers.
It can be used to strengthen your family, your own self and your relationships, it is a very centering rune that connects you to the base energy of the earth.
