What are some of your thoughts on this?
I am personally against anything that might impact the ecosystem in Alaska.

I am against the damaging of ecosytems...especially that part of Alaska. I do understand the need for resources (as they so eloquently put it *shakes his head*) so I would think the solution would be to run it down the existing pipeline as Knowles suggested.
This way...the refuge would be left untouched and the *resources* could still be used.
Note: this is me being diplomatic. One way or another they are going to have the oil. I suggest it be done in the least destructive way.
Blessings!

I tend to agree with you and Knowles on this one...
But, I have a bad taste in my mouth about the whole thing. I think that Bush's administration is not going to be enviromentally helpful (look at his record in Texas!) I mean he appointed Christie Whitman to the head of the EPA. I live in New Jersey and so followed her nomination closely, as she was the governer of my state. She has been quote as saying that she would loosen the enforcement of the environmental laws that the EPA imposes on Businesses. And she down plays the hole in the ozone layer stating that we have no proof about what caused it.
I just don't like it one bit.
Blessed Be!

Well...at least she acknowledges that the ozone is there, some politicians say there isnt proof of an OZONE!
Blessed Be.

This is nothing new..The Alaskans have been fighting it for many years..but politicans ram rodded their agenda thru atarting with statehood, which the Alaskans voted against. When money is involved, the ecosystem falls by the way side. Sad but usually true. The worst part of further corruption of Alaska's land, is that it truly is "The last frontier". When it is dispoiled, there is nothing left of measurable value, ecologically speaking, on the N. American continent. When will people realize there are more important things than money? Before its to late?
