Court cards help needed please.

Big hello to you all ... I wonder if anyone could help me with this? Court cards... I am a newbie to tarot and love my new deck, " The Gendron tarot" and can sit for hours with it. But court cards are foxing me a bit. I understand that they mostly represent various aspects of yourself, person your reading for and on the other hand they represent other people. So how do you go about determining which? Aspect or person??

I've never heard the aspect thing, but I'd say it's up to you to decide in any reading. As with any other card, a card can have a different meaning in any reading. So, if you get say a page of cups, and that reminds you of how you feel in the reading (say it's a friends reading who you really care about), then that's what it means. But if it doesn't feel right to be part of you, and maybe it feels like it could be a friend or romance interest for your friend, then it is.

In short, I think of pages as younger people (to young adult I guess), knights as people my age, and kings and queens usually as older people. In this case, then, a king card could represent part of myself (maturing perhaps), or my fiance (who's a couple years older), *or* my dad, or a mentor, etc. You really have to go with what feels right.

I think i see what you mean... to summerise ,it could be either, it would all depend on how you feel the card is presenting itself in the rest of the spread and how you feel it relates to the situation and question ,as to if it represents an actual person or an aspect of that person. If you see what I mean :0) ... and if you dont see what I mean I wouldnt blame you one bit. Again many thanks for your reply, it is great to have a board such as this to bounce ideas off .

i agree with you both! You just have to let yourself decide, have faith and go with what you feel for the cards, and what you feel the cards are 'saying' to you :)
