A story that made me very happy today. After the terrible things they did to people, white and NA, who lived where the National Forest now is it's good to see someone fight for justice.

May he achieve balance and justice.

I wish him luck......but you know how well Treaties and grants fare when it's Indians against the Great White Father in Washington....( I on purpose did not use the PC Native American.....I'm half Cherokee and prefer Indian..............)

I've only got a drop O' Cherokee myself. I use NA because it's short! I get in trouble for cutting corners all the time....

I'm very excited about this. I know some of the tactics used in creating the Smokies National Forest and it's good to see someone fighting back. Last time I heard of someone fighting it was when the Ollivers lost the fight to save Cades Cove... in the 1930's!

I'm just pessimistic about anyone ever winning any thing like that ever again..........pay no attention to me.....spend way to much time on NA sites....(you're right, that's quicker)............:D

I tend to read, remember and then put things out of my mind until I need the info. Otherwise I'd be angry and depressed all the time. :(

*still PO over the Tellico Dam*

might have been nice to know how many other direct descendants
there were. So they know if they have to divide the land or not.

unfortunately, they will probably not win the land. They will lose
legally, probably over the unclaimed land ad.
