That's an interesting question. I've never considered my deck (Robin Wood) to be male or female. Yet, when I try to envision it in those terms, the High Priestess comes to mind immediately. Which I find interesting since, everytime I look at the box, it's the Magician on the front. If I chose any deck to call androgynous, it would probably be that one.

my Tarot de Marseille deck has a female energy to it.

Interesting I always thought that it was my own.
But seeing that others have decks of the opposite gender is intriguing to me.

Wish I had another deck to look at.

I'll definitely agree that the Thoth is blunt! Used to have it, it was my ass-kicker deck, because when I asked it questions, it kicked my ass!

I tend to prefer decks with a more feminine energy, but I suppose that's because I'm a bit of a girly-girl :D

I wouldn't mind having a 'kick my ass' sort of deck.

I'm kind of wishing I had one right now. None of my decks are real 'ass-kickers' anymore. The Housewives is blunt, but funny.

Think I'll see if I can download the Thoth for the Orphalese Software. I'm due for a good ass-kicking about a particular situation in my life.

I took a screen shot of the reading. It's blunt and to the point. The positions are:

4-----6-----8-----9-----7----5
----------------3--------------
----------------2--------------
----------------1--------------

1 - The past of the relationship
2 - The present of the relationship
3 - The future of the relationship (what the hell is THAT card doing there????)
4 - My feelings toward the current state of the relastionship
5 - His feelings toward the current state of the relationship
6 - The changes I want to see
7 - The changes he wants to see
8 - How I can help those changes occur (Do nothing? Huh?)
9 - How can he help those changes occur

I don't like accepting things! Grrrr... Problem is... I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be accepting here.

you're just supposed to be accepting what comes, the choice isn't yours this time.
so throw your hands in the air and surrender to it.

hell... at least it wasn't the tower... *shiver*

Actually, I wouldn't mind the Tower right now. At least the Tower is ACTION!!! I feel so stuck right now, because I'm having such a hard time moving forward with this.

But actually, the Thoth reading was a ass-kicker. I saw some of what he's going through right now, and why he's still clinging to me. The Devil, upright, to me, is chains that you can easily break, but when he's reversed, those chains aren't so easy to get rid of. That Two of Cups comes up everywhere lately, even in readings I'm doing for others, and it's driving me batty, but it's also a remind to love MYSELF, not just him. Something I really need to work on!

I tend to shy away from gendered personifications of my tools... I certainly see them as "alive" to a ritual degree, but I dislike gendering them. I get what you mean, but it's not something that really registers with me if that makes sense.

Time was when I reacted to all this talk about gendered decks with a sort of a "uh..uh...OK ...that's..interesting" attitude.

But now, well, my deck is unmistakably a chick

When I got her home and opened her up for the first time, the vibe I got was one I was familiar enough with, "Stop handling me until you've gone and had a shower."

[SIGH]

She's a jumper as well.

I'm sure my background in the more "practical" work makes it easier for me to personify a deck and then exploit that to my advantage. I have to count on her feminine intuition because mine is hopeless. I know that's not how you're supposed to go about it but it seems to be working.

After seing the link to the Gothic Tarot (and clicking on it) I just had to buy this deck. I got it two days ago and already love it. I've interviewed it a couple of times and it seems we will have some great times together. Even before I got it I had a feeling it would be a "I'm going to tell you a joke" sort of deck and from the interviews I can see that I'm right. It's already shown it's humourus side. The "He said, she said" approach is one I can now use even though my decks don't have a specific gender. But the Gothic Tarot is really up front and honest where my other decks are very reluctant to tell me the harsh realities.
