Elements and goddesses

A long time back I read in a Diane Stein book about envoking various Goddesses at the quarters, as a result I have been looking for elemental corrospondences for some of my favorite Goddesses. Would you folks think that Air is appropriate for Athena? Earth for Artemis? Now what element would you suggest for the Muses? Air perhaps? And Demeter and Persephone?

I have Patricia Monaghan's Goddess & Heroine book, but she's spotty with some kinds of corrospondances, supplying them for some, but not all Goddesses, so what do you all think?

Never thought about correspondences for goddesses before but I'll give her a go ;)

Athena -- yes Air because I associate Air with the mind and intellect, which she represents to me and her association with the owl.

Artemis -- yes again Earth sees appropriate for the Huntress and because of her connection to childbirth, but then again, her arrows could correspond to air.

Demeter -- I have to say Earth again because of the connection to the harvest.

Persephone -- Earth again because of the connection to the
seasons.



But despite my answers, I think it all depends on which aspect of each goddess you are trying to envoke. What is it that she represents that you are calling on? Make sense?

aradia is also said to correspond to air

Artemis, Persefone and Demeter are all earth to me
Aradia and air sounds good, but she could (at least to me) be fire as well... :) strange huh?

hmmm i'm not that good at gods goddesses that arent celts but
hestia for fire or any goddess of the hearth

I'll be in a Mabon ritual that does Goddess correspondences of Maiden, Mother, Warrior, Crone.

I don't think that's what you were asking but it may help you figure out what you're wanting to know.

I agree with the responses of Mithrea. I think that the Muses correspond with air. Remember that air is the element associated with intellect, communication, music....etc. The muses help inspire you intellectually to produce great works, so I definetely think that they correspond with air.
