Okay! We are going to start with suit meanings!

There is controversy about the relationship of wands and swords to the elements. some say that wands relates to fire and others say it's air.....same holds for swords. My deck, Robin Wood Tarot, shows that Wands is Fire and Swords is Air. This is how it will be taught for the class, but if you feel more comfortable the other way, that is fine. Not much info will be affected by it.

With that said....on with the lessons!

Wands
The Wands are the suit of creativity, action and movement. They are associated with such qualities as enthusiasm, adventure, risk-taking and confidence. This suit corresponds to the yang, or masculine principle, in Chinese philosophy and is associated with the element Fire. A flickering flame is the perfect symbol of the Wands force. This energy flows outward and generates passionate involvement.

My suggestion is to take the 3 positive traits that really stand out to you, and 3 negative that do the same and use/work with them. If you can remember more than that, great! If not, take baby steps! (no shame in that!~~ my memory isn't 'all that' at times!! :p)

Let me know what traits work best for you, or jumped out at you!

My three....adventurous, energetic and optimistic (P) and cocky, reckless and impulsive (N).

Great lesson Dagda!! I never knew there were so many corrresponding words for the wands suit! Wow!!
Will take them on board and note allot down for future readings!
I think of the wands as the passionate cards of the tarot they are strong and vibrant!
They are linked with the fire element for me and symbolise everything as such!
They can represent the fire star signs ~ Aries, Leo and Sag.
For me wands mean passion, desire, ambition, energy and creative energy to me.
They often appear for me when a challenge or ambition is in action or has to be faced and can also come up as an argument.
But mostly I read the wands as ambition! :p

Ive chosen ~ Inspiring, adventurous and self confidence as the positive aspects. And hasty, headstrong and impulsive as the negative aspects I will remember.

I agree!

Ambition, creativity, desires. I feel along with ambition comes challenges and obstacles too....I guess I feel that wands are a 'tug-of-war' type suit. ambition-obstacles, creativity-'writer's block', desires-fear. Just some thoughts that popped to mind.

I am having such a hard time with this suit and with Swords. First off I confuse the two, then when I try to intuit by what I see in the cards and then compare them with the meanings, I'm way of!!!! I think it's time for a new deck. Hopefully I'll find one and can pick it up next weekend. I'm bummin' man! I'll keep trying though and post my reply for these two suits tomorrow.

I confuse them alot too, but like I said in the PM I sent you, sometimes it's easier if you can associate them to an element.

Wands=fire~bold, daring, passionate.

Swords=air~Thinking, clearminded, analytical. Our thoughts are much like air, you can't see it, but it sure can feel the affects! :D

Post when ever you are ready. I would be interested to read what meanings you came up with!

Try this....lay out all of the Wands, in order and look for a main theme in the suit....not just card by card, but overall. :)

Do the same for the suit of Swords.

I kind of get a sense of yearning and being driven to attain what one wants, desires. Everyting that is done, is done with a passionate flair, whether it's overcoming obstacles, or daydreaming.

Keywords: Three positive-daring,self-assured, undaunted. Three negative-aggressive, impatient, thoughtless.

I know a Sagittarian(sp)-my step-father. He is daring, self-assured and undaunted to the point of carelessness. Hence the agression, impatience, and thoughtlessness in all that he does.

Jobs-I'll get back to ya later on. Baby needs a bath.

Green Blessings! ;)
