I went and voted for MW today, and I checked out one of the banners that was ranked as #1, supposedly they were a bunch of rebel witches, as soon as I entered their site I started getting chills.. I looked around.. and found an article on "How to Dismantle Civilization" O_o you know what the first step was? Put contraception pills into the food and water systems and eventually they'll be abandoned... >.< does this just sound WRONG to anyone else?

If we all go to thier site and read it, then we are doing what they want, people like that post that crap and they want you to read it! And that only causes people to get upset.
Myself, I know it is not true. :) and why would we even want to let them get a few more hits.. I run across sites like this all the time, In fact, I know of one site that has something to say about Just about EVERYTHING under the sun, includeing the POPE and they even say that there is a secret Basement in Disney world where they brain wash kids,,,,
that is just sick...
I just ignore it, and I feel that by showing it to others we are only giveing them more advertiseing, :) no matter what our intentions.. all they care about is that people SEE what is there, and hopefully click on a banner and buy stuff.

JUST DON'T RESPOND TO THEM... it is interesting to go and see what others have up, but don't feed the fire...
it could be just someones idea of a sick joke, or it could be someones true feelings, no matter what, take it with a grain of salt and let it be.

I agree with you Shnen,
I guess what I should have added in there was that there are a lot of people who are just starting to learn about Wicca and what Pagan culure is all about, and I just thought that things like that would only scare them off

**Shrugs** It's just an idea, people. An idea won't hurt you--only people who carry out an idea are capable of hurting you.
Open your minds and study the idea just on the grounds of what it is. Then if you still disagree with it, fine--but at least you disagree with it rationally, rather than as a knee-jerk reaction to a politically-incorrect point-of-view.

I didn't really think of it like that phoenix.. I thought of it as like..
"my goddess.. what about pregnant women who drink that water?"
I don't just jump out and say "YOU'RE WRONG! nya!"

What about pregnant women who drink alcohol? Or who smoke during their pregnancy? Or women who take crack? What about the women who give birth to their babies and then kill them willingly?
I don't think that part of the plan is realistic anyway; the placenta does a remarkable job of shielding the child from the sins of the mother. The key is the placenta--babies in a stage of development before the placental wall can be erected would be vulnerable; but after that, it takes some pretty out-there means, like lead or mercury or a few other drugs that would kill off or maim just about everyone to begin with.
**Shrugs** Now, you could introduce something that would sterilize the men, perhaps; though I can't think of any drug that would do this and leave everyone else unaffected. The substance they would introduce simply doesn't exist; and if it did, they'd destroy a lot more than just humans' ability to reproduce. They'd kill off most animal life in the region, too, in all likelihood.

**Soft smile** I don't mean to discourage or depress anyone, so I hope that's not what I'm doing. But Democracy is based upon the rational discussion of ideas. . . throw the reason out of Democracy, and all you have left is a mob.
CoolJ, I don't see a Witch or even a Wiccan as forbidden from doing any harm. That's Jainism. The Wiccan Rede states, "An it harm none, do as ye will."
In other words, you may do as you please if your action harms no one. Obviously no action is without harm--so you have to take the consequences of your actions into account before you act; and you have to accept the consequences of your actions after you've acted.
Can a Wiccan kill a man who has threatened to end her life or harm her children? Most certainly, as far as I'm concerned.
And not every Witch/Pagan is Wiccan or follows the Rede in any event. :)
. . .We humans are creatures of colors. We are not light or darkness, but somewhere in-between and outside. We are reds and blues and oranges, and golds and silvers and greens, and every other color you can think of, and some you can't. Denying the darker colors in nature cuts you off from half of your own potential, distorts your perception of the world.
When you're afraid of the dark, your mind creates phantoms and monsters to inhabit it. :) When you open your eyes and your mind and conquer your fear, you find there was never anything to be afraid of.

You do have some good points... I guess I was just horrified that they would even consider doing it, much less write it down for others to see and for those who have the ambition to do it, to actually have the chance to do it...

Funny you should mention that.
I played in a Vampire Larp once where one of the characters was a demon posessing various bodies and working evil. His method of sending the entire city to hell involved putting FERTILITY drugs into the water, not contraceptives. Then, he used his demonic powers to influence the city towards religious conservatism, so all abortion clinics would be shut down. He also backed several housing projects and wrecked the local public transportation system.
So, 10 years later in the game world, there are slums everywhere and the poor have exploded in number due to the fertility drugs. A nice town will turn into Detroit, basicly.

**Ponders** Are you sure that was a LARP, Ill? That sounds an awful lot like Montgomery, AL. We even have a demon-posessed man sitting on our state Supreme Court (thank you, Judge Roy Moore). All we're missing are the fertility drugs. . . heck, even allowing beer to be served on tap would help in that department. I think beer could pass for a fertility drug down here, anyway. . . :bigredgri

There's nothing that says as far as I know that being on the pill while pregnant is dangerous anyway. Considering how many women who get pregnant on it and don't know to stop taking it for a month or longer (my friend continued for at least the first trimester, not knowing she was pregnant)..

When it comes to the rest of the site, I agree with a lot of what he's saying. Turning your eyes away from the "bad" side of the religions is an over all bad idea. "Both sides of the coin, light and dark we encompass, good and evil, still walk among us. So be sure that a witch you will be. For we own it all, you and me. You and me." The part about how to destroy society is scary, yes. But its also just this person's opinion, and he has a right to that opinion. *shrugs*

Sites of this type is why I was so glad to find MW and call it home...so to speak. So once again I have to thank Mol and company (you guys) for providing a place to meet good people interesting in similar things. :) Thanx
Faolan, Just a note of interest, my son was in the Army, and they actually have lots of Pagan's in the military. For many reasons...but one is what Phoenix said about our ability to face the consequences of our actions. They defend both ourselves and others. In fact, the Chaplain's Handbook discusses the Pagan and Wiccan beliefs in a positive way...because of this very thing....
If you want a site that will inform you on the basics of various religions even ones like Eckenkar and others...find that site! It is interesting too.

overall, the site wasn't that bad in my opinion...at times he appears to be off of his rocker when talking about destroying the world but overall, he seems like a slightly ticked off dude who is just trying to formulate his thoughts and get heard...oh well
Thanks Mysticwicks
