Decaying mermaid.

I just dreamt of a decaying mermaid in a really shallow river who then dissapeared into I think what was a hole in the bank of the river where what looks like an old kiln or some sort of smokstack used to be. The mermaid itself was really big and really creepy. It was like something out of a good horror movie. She was just old bone and decaying sinew and her tail looked like a bloated dead fish.

I know that mermaids are supposed to symbolize femine beauty and mystique as well as sexuality as well as the decaying part should symbolize the death and possible rebirth of something, but there was flat out only death that I could sense. Any ideas of where it came from or what it could mean? They're two very opposite aspects.

That and I'm know I'm now going to be looking in the water at my cottage before I jump in next time.

mermaid symolizes beauty, feminiity, but don't forget there were lots of ugly merfolk and kin, just like all fairies aren't tinkerbell-like and pretty. Mermaids are associated with water, water is associated with emotions, to me it seems like you have some problems that you aren't letting go of,or that you are going through right now. it's decaying and lending a toxic quality to life, you said it dissappeared right? I believe that this means that whatever problems you either aren't letting go of, or that you may be struggling with right now is dragging you down, and perhaps giving you a sour, bitter, or sad outlook on life. Just my opinion and I hope it helps.

Oh I haven't forgotten about the "black sheep" of the mermaid family, as my e-mail has merrow in it. Thank you for the insight, it's given me something to think about.
