Sticky Rice?

I read somewhere that if you make sticky rice and eat ten bites of it you can do a form oof Divination by looking at the shapes and patterns in the remaining rice. Where on earth did that come from??!!

At first, I thought it was probably Buddhist or Taoist, I can only find slight mentions of it on websites regarding Southeast Asia but nothing really specific.
