It's a Mojave ground squirrel. I found this out with a little research. The site (http://www.tortoise-tracks.org/denizens/mgs.html) I found said
Hard to find and even more difficult to observe and study, these rare and elusive little rodents have baffled biologists over the years.
It wasn't elusive enough to avoid my cat. It's got a nice bloody cut on it's head, but upon further inspection, it didn't lose an eye or anything. I think it'll be fine. Fortunately I stopped Paige(my cat) before she did some crazy Silence of the Lambs **** to it.
I let it loose back in the wild a few minutes ago. Cute little squirrell.

I once had a cat who would not eat her prey. Instead she'd bring the mouse to me, I'd tell her what a good kitty she was, then she'd swap me.....for a bit of hamburger meat!
What wonderful creatures they are!

My old cat brought home a bat once, found it dead under the front bushes.

Our cat(Mitzy) is a killer to he does it for sport he never eats them hardly, any cats actually do,they usually leave them on your garden or even in your home. They don't do this to annoy you its their version of saying thanks ,a present to you.
Vets say if your cat does this your supposed to thank your cat if it does so.
Once Mitzy (cat) brought a bird into the family room and the bird looked like it was still breathing. So I took it outside and tried to help it and then I realised it had no eyes and it had a funky smell to it,turns out it had been dead for ages.It wasn't breating it was all the maggots and other insects inside it wriggling around.Ewwww....and to think I tried giving it cpr!
What a lovely animal!

Both my cats bring home dead mice and voles and leave them in front of the grill! I've heard that cats think we humans are so inept at hunting that they feel we need their support to eat.

My cats are indoor cats (they wander around the yard a little, but not much) and instead of bringing me dead animals they bring socks that they've "caught" off the dining room table. It's so much easier to say "good kitty!!" when you're staring at a "dead" sock than a mouse. :)

So that is what the "dead socks" are about...thank you....I thought my cat was just psycotic when he would drag socks to pile them in front of the Frig. He was a total indoor Cat!

I remember the first time I saw my parents kittie bring up a dead animal (I think it was a bird), I was like, "EWW!! Stupid cat, get away!" and my mom grounded me. LOL She then explained that I'm supposed to say, "Ooh.. good kittie!" Hell, I could say, "Ooh.. gross, cat.. thanks a whole lot for this disgusting rotting piece of flesh!" as long as I said it in a nice sing song type of voice. :) And then I saw the kittie do it again, and so I said thank you to the kittie... and he looked SO proud of himself, I couldn't help but laugh and *actually* appreciate the gesture. :) I love cats. OH, and my parents new kittie (he's an indoor kittie) doesn't do the sock thing... he drags bath towels from the laundry room (downstairs) and piles them in my dad's recliner. LOL

Huh....kinda looks like a gopher to me. :)
My cat never brought me any "presents" although I'm sure he would had tried to kill the birds on the lawn, if he was allowed outside. The cats around here are constantly killing lizards or snakes and leaving them around....pretty gross.
