View Full Version : I Got A Tarot Deck!

I got my first tarot deck, yippee!
I've used the Tarot before, but this is the first deck that has been my own, :) . Earlier tonight I was familiarizing myself with them and did a reading for myself. It seemed quite accurate.
But I was wondering if there is anyone out there that could do a reading for me. Just for the simple fact that whoever does the reading for me isn't involved so impressions won't be slanted. I'm sure you know what I mean.
Anyway...
Sweet dreams always,
Maeve

You forgot to tell that.... keep us hanging in suspense...:D j/k
Congrats on the new deck though...
It feels so good to buy a treat for yourself sometimes.
I am sure someone will be more than happy to do a reading for you.
Absolutely wonderful people in our home away from home on the porch.(great lemonade too!!) :)
I would try it, but I am not that experienced yet.
However, Dag keeps telling all of us that we need to practice, practice, practice.
So, if I can get my kiddies settled and get clear enough tonight, I will try and pull a card for ya.

Thank you and no worries if you don't get the chance. I'm sure with the kids you're kept quite busy. I learned how busy you stay with kids when I was raising my now ex's two kids by myself starting at age 17 to almost 20. What an eye opener, hehe.
Sweetest of dreams,
Maeve

Is the Gendron Tarot. When I first brought it home I wasn't too crazy about the pictures, but after using it last night, I guess you could say they grew on me, :).
Although next week I plan on going back and buying The Goddess Tarot.
To all of you wonderful people who have offered to do a reading for me, thank you. A general one is fine, although right now my questions are leaning towards relationship concerns.
Sweet dreams & bright blessings always & forever,
Maeve

I see what you mean about the pictures! I like to look at a couple cards from the deck before I decide to purchase them. :D I go to http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/ to preview decks. I think my next purchase is going to be the Stick figure Tarot. That way I can do readings for my son, and the pictures won't be as 'scarey' for him! :D I think they'd also be great to use when someone new comes in for a reading and they are leary about it. (just something fun!) The are so cute too! :D
General Relationship Reading, gotcha! :D
Look for it later tonight. ;)

Unfortunately I didn't really have a set in mind when I went, :( . Although I have previewed the Goddess deck, so that one I know I'll really like. I've seen the Sitck Figure set online that you're talking about, they are cute, :) .

Those are very beautiful cards, though I'd get confused without the names on them! :D
I have the Robin Wood Tarot, they are my favorite! I also have: Arthurian Legend Tarot, Dragon Tarot, Cosmic Tribe Tarot, Tarot Classic, Witches Tarot, and a Rider Waite deck.
I am happiest with the Robin Wood and use them most often. :D

I've laid out the cards. But I want you to know, I'm a student just like everyone else. (I've been a book student for 5 years and have finally decide that was ridiculous!~ I think I've read everything I could get my hands on! I still 'cheat' and have a keyword list beside me, but beyond that I use my intuition and whatever jumps out of the card at me.) So, if this is not an accurate reading, let me know...and I'll try it again. Most the time, it hits pretty close....but my interpretations have gone astray once in a while. :)
Situation, Present, Future.
S-King of Wands~Keywords for this card are: Creative, inspiring, forceful, charismatic and Bold. Wow, it sounds like an exciting situation to be in romantically! :D This card can either represent the situation itself or a 'friend' that you are involved with. Originality and spontenaity are what come to mind with this card. This is also a passionate and ambitous card. This king is the risk-taker. He's not satisified to step back and be passive. He leadswhere other's would choose to follow. He's daring and bold as is the situation/person this card is relating to.
P-Ace of Swords~Keywords for this card are: Mental force, truth, justice and fortitude. I feel that this signifies that everything you are experiencing is just as open and honest as it appears to be. You are feeling strong and confident. Since this is an Ace, it is a beginning. Maybe this relationship/situation is just getting underway.
Sometimes this card represents a challenge coming your way. Clear thinking, a firm resolve and honesty are what this card tells that you need. You have the inner resources to surmount challenges and obstacles.
In any case, this card is the best that this suit has to offer.
F-Two of Pentacles~Keywords for this card are: Juggling, flexibility and fun. This is saying that you may have to juggle things in the future; work out a game plan that will benefit all involved. Make time for all that is important to you. Have an open mind and be flexible. The old "my way or the highway" may not be a good approach. Things will go on smoothly if you can have some fun and ease up a bit. Try to cope the best you can and go with the flow. And don't forget to have some fun along the way.
Sorry it took me so long to get to this for you! I hope it helped! :D
~D
If anyone else would like to read for Wiccan Maeve, feel free to jump in and draw some cards! :D

I absolutely LOVE the gendron deck. It's the first tarot deck I've ever had good readings with.... we just clicked instantly.....
And unlike other people.... I think the pictures are the most beautiful I've ever seen in tarot cards....the colors and symbolism are amazing....
Anyway.... that's just my $0.02....

What do u people think about the robin wood deck pictures?
i bought my first deck yesterday, originaly i was going to buy the celtic tarot but i couldn't find it so i bought the robin wood deck and fell inlove with it straight away.
did'nt realise how emotional it would be buying the first tarot deck. Definately an experience to remember.

The pictures evoke actual emotions in me.
Sometimes right on the money with what the cards mean and others not, but I truly love handling them.
I fell in love with them too :)

I love my Robin Wood deck also! In fact, I have to say that it's because of this deck that I even started to look into Witchcraft! Last year I was looking for a deck, and I liked hers so I ordered it off of her website. In doing so, I visited her Living Grove website and got really interested in Witchcraft. After a few months I decided I wasn't ready for it, but a few months ago it "came back into my life", and here I am today. ;)
I really like all the detail and symbolism that she put into her desk. Sometimes different things on the cards call out to me... things I hadn't noticed before. It makes my reading much more accurate. Do you all have the book also? I like it b/c she explains what she was thinking of when she drew certain things. I swear every little detail on the cards has a symbolic meaning. Very cool! :)

I don't have the book, but I've heard that about it many times. I will probably get it on my next visit to the book store. :D

I have four Decks, Rider-Waite, Ancestral Path, Thoth, and Hermetic. I like the Rider-Waite and Ancestral Path the Best, but I am very fond of the Thoth deck too. The Hermetic deck just does not ring my chimes.

the rider-waite deck is beautiful... the pictures and colors are a bit heavy, though. the universal waite is good if you want the same illustrations... it was re-colored, so it's a bit more lighthearted.
of course, there's another waite deck that's just the outlines- you color it in. that might be fun. but i'd rather make my own when i'm more experienced...

Thanks Maeve for your honesty about how you felt about the Gendron deck. Because of what you said, I bought the Gendron deck as well and I love it. I seem to be able to read these alot easier than the Witch's Tarot(which I still like alot) but they are for an advanced study as well as for a way to learn the Qabbalah. For some reason I am draw to the Princess of Pentacles card. I love the imagry(sp) and the feel of this particular card.:)
Green Blessings!

I've always wanted a Robin Wood deck, but never seem to find one (at least not at a time when I have money to buy one).
I started out 15 yrs ago with the Rider Waite, then I picked up the Lord Of The Rings Tarot a few years ago and I absolutely love it. The images are taken from 'The Lord Of The Rings' trilogy and 'The Hobbit' and they are enchanting.
I've also made 2 decks of my own...well 1 and a half. The first one I made about 10 years ago and unfortunately it got lost in a move. The second one I started little over 3 years ago and it's still not finished.
