So I FINALLY, after 10 years of yearning, bought myself a Bodhran yesterday!

*does a jig*

I was wondering if anyone knows of any good instructional books or DVDs, or even websites, that teach how to play the bodhran, traditional Irish melodies and songs using the Bodhran, etc.

Thanks so much!

I bought a mini harp at an Irish fest and I've yet to really tune it. I used a keyboard but I need to get a harp tuner. I've searched everywhere for a teacher but there aren't any in the area, it seems... Good luck with your Bodhran!

I've been in the process of learning myself.. (my mother bought it for me last Christmas) .. I finally had someone teach me in person.. (at our local Irish Music Festival).. I think one of your best bets is to see if you have an local Irish Pubs that have Caighlie (okay.. I know that is spelled wrong, but.. don't have time to figure it out) sessions.. possibly called Irish Jam Sessions.. We have one not too far away that has them every wed. night.. people there are willing to help sometimes..

Thanks guys!

Hubby and I found an Irish shop not too far away from where we live. Its brilliant! Now he knows where to go get me jewelery LOL and I know where to go get him Guinness memorabillia!

That's where I got the Bodhran. They have loads of Irish folk things, I am SOOOO going back there after we move to our new place to decorate my kitchen (Irish traditional kitchen blessing and a Brighid's cross!).

I can't want to start learning!
